As soon as Rylan stopped terrorizing the council members (my, my what a sadist he is), they began to explain why they brought him in. It had been pretty much as he expected them to say and had anticipated that they would ask something of him. The council didn't just call him here to vent to him about their problems after all.
They wanted to use him as a weapon against the rogues, if he accepted, he would be compensated heavily, but he already had his parent's fortune which he probably needed to check in on and he didn't really want money or another useless fancy title.
He would much rather continue to live his life as he had before, he didn't want to be the wolves hero, because honestly? He couldn't give a shit about what happened to them. He held a grudge against the wolves. They never came to his parent's aid and when the news of his pack's massacre reached all over his state people turned a blind eye. So why should he help?
His wolf also resented them. So the final decision was made. Rylan opened his mouth and with a small smirk, cracking his usual expressionless facade and spoke. "No."
Lucas was still there and he couldn't help the sick grin that overtook his features as he heard the wolf let out an embarrassing audible gasp. The Queen's eyes widened a fraction as the king's face turned a funny shade of red. The wolf on the right seemed shocked but quickly composed herself. He hoped to see more of the she-wolf soon.
Not a prime example of how royalty should act, Rylan thought with disapproval and slight giddiness creeping through. He felt his wolf lazily wag its tail in amusement at the expressions on them before the king snapped and approached Rylan. A stupid move. If he took note of Rylan's scent, he would have noticed that Rylan was getting irritated and pissed off. An angry Rylan was a dangerous and deadly Rylan.
"You dare decline our generous offerings? I always knew a rogue such as you held no power. Your weak-" The king's voice cut off as Rylan released his concealed power, it rolled off him like powerful waves similar to the Queen's own. It was stifling in the room and Rylan heard Lucas gasp, desperate for air but he could care less. His focus was on the idiotic 'King' that kneeled before him.
"Whose weak now", Rylan hissed out in anger as his wolf flashed his teeth through his eyes. The Queen was terrified, her wolf begging her to submit to the Rylan before her human counterpart got them both killed. Her instincts screamed 'DANGER, DANGER, RUN' and yet as terrified as she was, she couldn't help but feel excitement. She had never liked her useless pathetic husband, and should he unfortunately die today she would be able to find her mate and crown them as her equal.
Rylan in his blood lusting rage shifted into his wolf and dove after the scrambling 'Alpha King'. He did not care for the consequences; he just wanted the stupid wolf dead. The king shifted as well and was panicking trying to find a way to defend himself.
It was fun to play cat and mouse with the poor wolf, but Rylan and his wolf eventually grew tired and decided to end playtime. He pounced on the wolf and stuck his claws into his chest as his jaw took hold of his neck. He bit down and released his hold before the man could die as he forced open a mind link between them.
'Shift'
The King shook his head begrudgingly. Rylan sighed before growling out the order again. The wolf that cowered beneath him was an embarrassment. He was weaker than an alpha in his fur and Rylan's own wolf snarled at the man who dared to call them weak.
'You know, my father called you the day of the attack. He had begged you, his closest friend, to come and aid him. You know what happened because you refused to pick up? Because you were to busy fooling around, refusing to act as a true king?' Rylan spat out as the wolf beneath him winced at the venom present in Rylan's voice. 'My parents died. And now you will too.'
'I do the moon a favor by ridding the supernatural world of your filth. You do not deserve your title and your ways of lying and cheating your way through your pathetic life shall end.' Rylan snarled at him one last time before taking hold of his neck yet again and crushing it in his jaws. He enjoyed every little whimper that left the wolf's mouth as he slowly died.
Rylan, once out of his blood lusting haze, looked around the room and to his shock and amusement saw the Queen with a small, crazed smirk on her face along with a small tinge of fear in her scent, she was like a rose. Awfully beautiful but if you got to close you might just get pricked. Though in a wolf's case you might just get mauled to death.
"Well I must applaud you for that show Vigilante Red. But now I'm afraid I must ask you to consider my offer again. I know the werewolf world has not shown you kindness but as the rogues and the lost join together-"
Rylan cut her off. The lost? Why were rogue vampires joined up with rogue wolves?
"What do you mean join together?" He questioned. The Queen looked a bit surprised. "Did I not mention it earlier?", she asked. Rylan shook his head. "Reports from packs all over the state have said that they've spotted the lost working with rogues. It's confusing and concerning to say the least. "
Rylan allowed a frown to grace his features. The lost were like the vampire version of rogues, they succumb to the blood lust and hence their name, become lost in a blood lusting haze; once they succumb to their bloodlust there is no saving them. Wolves and vampires have always had a long petty feud and to see the crazy rogues and the insane lost join up was confusing and not very reassuring. Someone was leading them. He didn't know how he knew but his gut feeling egged him onto that conclusion. And if there was one thing Rylan learned in the wilderness and the mess that his life was? Always trust your gut instinct.
His wolf grumbled and Rylan cursed. Of-fucking-course fate pulls this shit on him. Perhaps this was his chance to atone for all the lives he took? He growled inwardly. He had atoned enough with the torture he went through, but he supposed it would be fun go see where this went.
"I will join you, only for my own safety." He lied, Rylan had a bit of a hero thing going on where he saved people, both admirable and annoying. Apparently, his gut did not believe in self-preservation. "Do not expect me to save your hide or your citizens all the time. I can promise to try my best and figure out why they joined together though." A some-what truth.
The Queen only let a grateful smile grace her features and nodded. "Thank you Red..." She trailed off. "I never did get your name?"
Rylan let a grimace which quickly converted into a grin that overtake his handsome features. "Rylan Matsumoto darling, pleasure to make your acquaintance, my Queen." He purred out as his wolf curiously came up to see her reaction.
Her eyes widened in both interest and fear. And oh, how Rylan loved to be the cause of that fear.
The Matsumoto bloodline consisted of skilled powerful fighters. Their loyalty never wavered and their devotion to their family and pack was inspiring. When they had been suddenly killed, the world was devastated for a mere few days before everyone turned a blind eye. No one cared enough to figure out what happened to them all because if the Matsumotos were forgotten, other packs had a chance at being one of the top packs in the state.
Rylan scowled a little at the thought. Jealous bastards are what they were.
"Well, Rylan", she said. "I will be holding the annual werewolf and vampire ball here and I would like for you to attend. You are now an official ally after all."
Rylan wasn't sure he wanted to go. But then again, he was pretty sure he really had no other choice. If he didn't show up and the Queen announced his alliance with them it would make him seem as if he didn't care at all and he would be scorned. Not a very good first impression, is it?
"Very well" He sighed out.
"Wonderful! The ball will be held in 2 days time, I will have a suit sent for you. For now I will call someone to escort you to a guest room.
He nodded right as someone knocked on the door. They had led him down the halls to where he would be temporarily staying. He was surprised to know that his guest room was nearby the royal's quarters. A sign that the Queen acknowledged him as an equal, his wolf (Rylan prayed one day someone would knock his beast's ego down) believed him to be better of course. Either way It fueled both his ego and pride.
Rylan sighed, "Well let's get this over with." As he walked to the bathroom to scrub off the blood of the king, he had mauled just minutes ago.
