Chapter 4: One Strike to resolve the crises
And as if buttressing the system's warnings, a loud wolf howl echoed not far away from Lin Min and he immediately felt a bloodthirsty killing aura lock unto him, causing him to freeze in place!.
Although only a few seconds had passed since he started talking to the system, it was more than enough time for the howling silver moon wolves to close the distance between them.
Lin Min's heart began to pound rapidly, he could hear both wolves brandishing their teeth as they slowly approached him, Lin Min didn't even think of running, the distance between him and the two wolves was just too short that his small boyish legs couldn't save him.
"Buddha, Jesus, Mohammed all the Gods please save me, I promise to live a better life if I can make it out alive" Lin Min fell to his knees and began to pray aloud, the system he got was a bust and wouldn't help him so he was without options now.
-------
At the same time a hundred meters away from Lin Min and the wolves that were closing in on him, a brown carriage being pulled by two dragon colts moved slowly in the shadows of the forest.
The driver of the carriage, a white-haired old fellow clad in dark blue robes head lead slightly on his shoulders, his eyes were half open as he nonchalantly spurred the conveyance on, he wasn't bothered about being attacked during this journey.
Normal bandits wouldn't even dare come close to this carriage as they new what the symbol on it represented, The Jun clan was one of the top powers around and their member was the current city lord of the closest city to azure sky forest, attacking their property was the same thing as declaring war on the city lord mansion and no bandit in the right mind was willing to do that.
"Uncle Jun Tao, I hear someone desperately calling for help not far from here, hurry up and save him" Suddenly a softly spoken tender voice sounded from within the carriage jolting the white-haired old man wide awake, the tender voice carried a trace of worry and pity for the person in danger.
The old fellow known as Jun Tao shook his head before smiling a bitter smile at the request.
He was already used to his young miss helping random strangers regardless of where they are or who was watching so he didn't need to think too much before he flashed an attentive glint at the surrounding forest and he soon caught sight of three howling silver moon wolves baring their fangs and brandishing their claws as they closed in on a fatty kneeling on a pile withered leaves.
The chubby boy was in a sorry state, his robes were soaked in blood and vivid marks could be seen all over his body especially the two big holes on his face
Jun Tao looked at this scene with a strange expression, he judged that the fatty's condition was related to the howling silver moon wolves surrounding him, they clearly could kill him long ago but chose to torture the little fatty until even his mother wouldn't recognize him.
At this realization, anger swelled up in Jun Tao's heart, although he couldn't be considered a good person, on the contrary, he was heartless when he needed to be and had much blood on his hands but seeing another human being treated like this by mere beasts aggrieved him deeply and really angered him.
His original nonchalant aura transformed into a razor-like sharpness as he clenched his fist and tightened his grip on the reigns.
"Ha!" he said with a passioned voice.
That was all it took. The dragon colts leaned into the harness as one, and the traces creaked loudly as they took up the weight of the carriage.
Their ears swiveled forward as they began galloping. At the subtle flick of the reins by the driver, they broke into a trot at full speed in the direction of the oak tree.
The dragon colts were an evolved breed of horses with minimal trace of dragon bloodline, their bodies were covered with scales and their head resembled that of a dragon they were widely known for their aggressiveness and fearlessness in battles, and their speed and agility were unrivaled among most rank 1 spirit beasts and was at least twenty times faster that of regular horses.
And so with the dragon colts bolting through the forest, the carriage left a trail of dusts and soon arrived just a few meters before the Fatty and the Howling solver moon wolves.
The appearance of the dragon colt carriage didn't go unnoticed by the howling silver moon wolves that were preparing to devour the fatty in front of them causing them to be on high alert, they quickly turned their attention away from Lin Min and glared at the new arrival with red eyes overflowing with killing intent, and growled while baring their fangs as if warning the human sitting in front of the carriage to stay away.
Their instincts as spiritual beasts were as sharp as ever and they could tell immediately that the seemingly unremarkable-looking coachman was terrifying to the extreme.
Jun Tao's didn't care about their hostile gestures and jumped down from his sit then he pulled his sword out, raised it, and swung it, a sword light streaked through the air straight towards the body of the nearest howling silver moon wolf.
This was his furious attack, with strength that caused the surrounding trees to tremble, it didn't give the howling silver Moon wolf a chance before it was slashed into two!
Poof.
With a single strike, the terrifying howling Silvermoon wolf head was separated from its body, sputtering blood everywhere.
Seeing a member of their pack die a miserable death without even knowing how, the remaining howling silver moon wolves felt terror in their hearts, they felt a terrifying sense of danger trembled in fear knowing that the old man wasn't someone they could mess with at all and they immediately turned tail and fled at lightning-fast speed in different directions with looking.
"who said you vile demons could leave" Jun Tao coldly asked, how could let them leave after what they have 'done' to that poor fatty, he sprang forward, he moved at a leisurely pace as if he was taking a stroll but his speed was at least three times faster than the howling silver moon wolves.
In no time he arrived in front of the remaining wolves and cut them down one by one with a single sword strike, in no time the surrounding leaves and trees were covered with wolves blood.
Kneeling on the pile of withered leaves Lin Min couldn't help but be surprised when he heard Jun Tao's voice followed by the wolves wailing in pain and their blood splattering all over.
"is this the strength of cultivators" Lin min gasped when he felt the immense power just now, and soon he smiled.
"I'm saved.... guess my prayer worked for once" Lin Min muttered in excitement and was nearly moved to tears however he couldn't cry even if he wanted to now that both his eyes were gone.
He never thought timely help would appear when he was so close to dying again.
I guess the system must have had a hand in this, Lin Min happily concluded.
