"Hurry, school is soon. We can't be late," spoke a voice from behind the door, her knuckles banging softly on it.
"I'm almost ready," Adonis called back. He was no where near ready. Instead he was wrapped up in the bedsheets like a burrito while reading a random ecchi manga.
Adonis rolled out of bed, dragging himself to the closet. He yanked out the uniform, staring at it grudgingly before moving in front of his full sized mirror. He put on the unfamiliar uniform, carefully studying his appearance. First impressions meant everything when it came to the first day at a new school.

The house was quiet, making his steps echo down the hallway. He walked to the front door, seeing his little sister waiting. "I've never seen you this ready for school, I'm impressed," Adonis teased while smiling softly.
"I want to get this over with," she muttered timidly.
"Well I start school before you, so I'll be going now." Adonis opened the heavy double doors, only taking a step outside before he was stopped by a tug on his sleeve. He looked back at the quiet girl. Her gaze was to the floor, her lips in a subtle pout.
"What is it, Kamiko?" he asked. His sister only responded with silence while averting eye contact. "Use words at least..."Adonis said with a slightly forced smile.
"Walk me to school, please. I'm nervous." Kamiko answered quickly, sensing her brother's patience was short this morning.
Adonis gently grabbed her wrist and began walking to Kamiko's middle school. The girl's social anxiety was extreme, so extreme that she went mute at age five and didn't speak again until seventh grade. Even though Kamiko is taciturn, everyone prefers her short, monotone speech.
After walking for a while, Kamiko spoke up, "This will be your first full school year in the human world?"
Adonis nodded, "Yeah... Last year didn't count since I got expelled during the first trimester. Schools here are nothing like school in Amaranthire." He sighed and untucked his hair from behind his ears, covering the pointy tips.
"I want to go to Amarathire," Kamiko mumbled.
"You better not, you'll be dead before you realize you're dying," Adonis retorted. "Humans can't cross the border."
Kamiko kept quiet as she saw the school in the distance. Standing in front of the school, she turned to her brother, signaling she needed some reassurance.
Don't be nervous, you got this, Adonis signed to her. Kamiko nodded with a nervous smile before heading through the school gates.

Adonis walked for another five minutes before reaching his own school. The school resembled a castle, Adonis compared it to a lighter version of the school in Harry Potter. The courtyard was huge and covered with beautiful greenery. Weirdly, there was barely anyone there.
He walked around, curious to where most of the early students were. Over in a corner of the courtyard, a large group of students stood in a crowded circle. Adonis hurried over to the crowd, curious to what the commotion was for.
On the grass floor lay a girl surrounded by five boys. The men shouted insults and curses to her as they beat and kicked her. The girl was scrunched on the floor, covering her face with her arms and putting her knees to her chest.
"FIGHT BACK BITCH!" a blonde boy shouted as he tried prying her arms from her face.
"WHAT ARE YOU HUH? YOU'RE MONSTER, A DISGRACE TO ALL OF US HERE. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK YOU BELONG HERE?!" another student yelled.
"YEAH GO BACK TO WHERE YOU CAME FROM, WHORE!!"
The offensive comments and abuse continued while the students surrounding only watched and recorded. Adonis looked around at the stoic student, then back at the scene in disgust.
When the man pried open the girl's arms, the cloth covering her eyes became visible. She wasn't crying, once her face became visible, she started laughing. The boy yanked the cloth off in anger from her mocking, revealing the girl's strange, multicolored eyes.
The crowd gasped and backed away further. The leader of the five men stood in front of her. "Heard your mommy is a prostitute, how about you become our little whor–"
Before the leader could finish, a fist collided with his cheek. The boy flew into his group and knocked over some people in the crowd. Everyone gasped, setting their attention on Adonis' bloody fist.
