"We were attacked by the Iron brothers," she said it again, but this time, she was in front of Connor.
She could almost hear his teeth grind, and his muscles tighten. "And what proof do you have for this?" his eyes were like red balls of fire.
The shadows rose from Colby's body and Connor could sense them. "There is your proof," Connor heard Raryana whisper. "Don't you remember what they did to me, what they did to our child?"
The shadows had wanted to plant fear in him, but the only thing that came out was anger – deep seated anger.
Anna took the arrow out, while Colby went with Fern, hanging on her shoulder. The servants helped the boy to walk under Connor's orders; even he could see the boy needed treatment. As he moved away, Connor could see the shadows clearly. And among them, one of them was holding a dagger.
"Go you bastard," he could hear those things cackle. "We will kill you proper this time."
