Diego had never seen so much gold and silver in his life before. The threads that lined the King's cloth were gold, the robe that Austin wore was lined with gold, the pictures that hung on the walls were framed in gold, the cups were silver, the wine bottle was covered in silver cloth, and the King's eyes and hair; they were also silver.
He didn't know why he was there, or why the guards let him be. Maybe they were afraid of the tall lizard that walked on two legs, or they were disgusted by the midget that grew its beard down to the chest, or they didn't want to deal with the man with pointed ears, who gave murderous stares everywhere he walked. With so many weird folks around, no one seemed to care about the tiny brown-skinned kid.
"Please be seated," the King told everyone, but he felt he didn't deserve to even be there.
