The carriage and the carts stopped in front of the inn in rows and the horses snorted and stomped, happy from the end of the journey, but they didn't know it was just a stop in between. Isaiah, Ruygard, and Tamara took off their cloaks, removing the hawk-head-shaped brooches from their necks and folding them into a pile; they couldn't flounder around wearing them. Three bird heads looked at Diego over the white clothes with jade eyes.
Ruygard was the first to get off the carriage, with Isaiah and Tamara following. When Diego exited and looked around, he saw the frowning eyes of the people directed toward the Deimians, but most of all, they were looking at Nibur. They had never seen a man as short as him before, and with such an unruly beard.
