Chapter 119 - Chains

Carlos lay on his bed, looking up at the roof. Bits of hay poked out from here and there, like the hands that were raised on that day. "It's only been a day and a half," he wondered.

He heard the ladder rattling and then the drapes moved. "Feeling lonely already?" a coarse sound came.

He didn't want to see him, but he was glad still. He sat up and rubbed his eyes. "Shut up, Leonardo."

Leonardo took up a place across the table and sat on the floor. "Thinking about what that girl did to this place?" he said.

"That woman took away twenty-four of our people. TWENTY-FOUR! Of course I will be thinking about her."

"Don't be so tense, Carlos," he said. "They are going to a better place, a place where they will be safe."

"Safe? I doubt it, and I doubt that woman's motives. It's almost like she is making others fight her battles."

Leonardo gave out a loud laugh. "You are being overly pessimistic. I think she only means good."

"I hope that you are right," he sighed.
