Valora would never have guessed that it was there if she was not told. But after Deifilia took her there, she could make out a door made from cracked stones under the dim light.
Deifilia looked at the door, confused about what to do. She pressed her hands over the door and pushed, but it wouldn't budge. Her feet dragged back and dust moved from under her feet. Carlos, who stood behind the girls and near Hodur came forward. "You should use both your hands," he said, "that was how the priest did when I got my trial."
Deifilia shot a look at him. She might be alright with the others, but it was with Carlos that she saw Magdalena's lifeless body. She had avoided him till now, but he had come at her. She felt her heart race and her eyes twitch.
Valora saw her face change. "After all that work, does he plan on ruining it all?" she thought. She stepped in front of Carlos and blocked him from Deifilia.
