Chapter 14 - Black

The instant Dearg left me behind and entered the forest, I realized something was wrong.

There is something off about "the enormous sound" and "Dearg hurrying into the forest."

I'd better head in that direction where Dearg went.

I'm not sure how far away he is from me, but the sound was so loud that he must be nearby.

Although I tried to run as quickly as I could, the uneven terrain and these woods made me slow.

I'm worried about Rin because she just woke up and I'm sure she's confused with everything that's going on right now. But it's best if she stays in the tree house.

She knows nothing about Dearg, and I doubt she has enough energy to run with me in this terrain because she hasn't eaten in almost three days, and she only survived because of Dearg's life force transfer from fruits.

Most importantly, she knows nothing about the person Dearg mentioned, and Dearg has repeatedly warned me not to do anything that will make her angry.

The person Dearg mentioned must already be here if my assumption is correct.

When I began running towards the forest in search of Dearg, I noticed something unusual: the sky was not blue, but rather red, as if it were completely covered in red-colored glass.

But there was one blue spot that looked like a stone pierced through a glass sheet. According to the color of the sheet covering the sky, it must be due to Dearg's magical power, because whenever Dearg casts a life-transfer spell, I always see a red-colored gas surrounding him.

But is it possible to cover an entire sky like this? I remember Dearg saying something related to our ancestors, it shows that he is like some god-class entity. But I thought it was just a story.

After seeing this covering, the entire sky, now I am starting to believe he is truly someone with a high level of power.

In addition to being more powerful than him, the one who is coming, according to Dearg, also demolishes universes for entertainment. What will she do if I go and stand in front of her?

Will she behave like Dearg and become our friend?

Or will she destroy our entire universe along with us?

I don't think she'll act like Dearg, and if she did, I'm sure Dearg wouldn't have warned me so many times.

Suddenly, while running through the forest, I heard another sound, but this time it felt like the entire ground shook for a second.

I lost my balance and fell into a small pit; immediately, I used the tree roots emerging from the pit's sand walls, climbed up, and resumed running.

I had a feeling I was getting close to Dearg; I couldn't see him because of the trees in my path, but I had a feeling he was nearby.

I started running in that direction without thinking about it. To be honest, I know it's not a good idea to go and stand in front of Dearg in this situation because if the other person Dearg mentioned is there, I'm sure it won't end well.

For some reason, I felt I should be there, and my body began to move without my orders; in fact, I am running faster than ever.

I can feel blood running from the wounds on my arms and legs from the pit I recently fell into, but I'm still running at full speed as if I've gone insane.

The forest had less sunlight than usual because of the trees and the red shield that blocked the sunlight, and then I saw a white light in front of me.

My eyelids tightened as soon as I noticed those lights, and my legs, which had been running so quickly up until that point, stopped moving as if completely frozen.

I made an effort to move forward because I sensed Dearg was nearby.

Despite my best efforts, my legs felt stuck to the ground and refused to move.

Even though I don't understand their language, I can still hear their voice, and they are right next to me.

When I attempted to move forward the very next second, everything turned black.

"Everything literally means everything, I can't see anything around me" I turned my head to look around, but no matter where I looked, everything looked the same, everything was black, I couldn't see anything, it felt like I closed my eyes and looked around.

In fear, I began to sweat because I am certain that my eyes are not closed; my eyes are wide open, but I cannot see anything.

I can feel sweat running down the outside of my skin, but I can't see it; in fact, I'm beginning to believe I don't have arms, legs, or even a body.

Nothing makes sense inside this pitch black; I now feel as if my entire body has become one with the atmosphere, and I only have a fraction of my consciousness.

It was so quiet, there was no sound, no one was around, and it almost felt so peaceful that I thought I was already dead.

A small fire with a golden flame began to burn in front of me just as I was about to believe that I had passed away.

I like to approach and touch the golden flame, but I can't seem to move because I don't feel any legs.

I kept telling myself, "I better see this lovely golden flame and remember this for all time before I completely lose consciousness."

I tried to recall the people I've met in my life, but I can't seem to recall anyone's face or name.

It actually makes sense, because now that I'm dead, remembering their face or name won't change anything, but I don't want my mind to be empty for all eternity, which is why I try to remember this golden flame.

I think it's almost time; I'm gradually losing my consciousness.

The golden flame began to glow differently just as I thought everything was over, almost as if it was attempting to form some shape.

It took the shape of a small boy, but this boy was not like any other human; he had horns, big soft-edged wings, and a tail. Near the boy was another girl, who also had wings but no horns or tail; instead, she held a huge sword.

The image of the boy and girl suddenly vanished, and the golden flame attempted to show a different image.

This time it showed the image of a teenage boy and a girl standing near each other, I had the feeling I had seen these figures before, after looking at them for a few moments there was a mild voice coming from the flame, the image of the girl looked at the image of the boy formed by flame and called his name "Lahsiv" and the boy formed by flame told her something back and used the name "Rin" at the end.

"I know these names," my mind began yelling, and I started to screen "I know these names."

There was an echo of my voice, "I know these names," which began to repeat itself.

Then the echo stopped and I felt someone standing behind me; I turned to look back, but I couldn't see anything due to the inky blackness.

But I can feel him looking at my eyes directly now, he opened his mouth and took a deep breath, I can feel the disturbance in the air around me, and then I heard him say, "This is nothing but your name and the name of the one you loved and failed to protect."

Before I could understand, what he was saying, there was a huge flash and everything went white.

"What is this strange dream?" "Wait! Why am I forgetting my dream, and what was it about?

"What is going on with me?"

"Why am I standing here rather than running towards Dearg?"

Something like a red ball is encircling me, blocking my vision of what's going on outside.

The red-colored ball began to vanish.

"It was all black, everything around me had turned to ashes, there were no trees, nothing was there."

Dearg was lying on the ground in front of me, and a small girl with wings was standing over him.

I reasoned that it had to be the person Dearg had warned me about and that I should avoid doing anything that would irritate her.

However, it appears that my legs have begun to move on their own, and I am now charging toward the one Dearg warned me about.

I can feel myself running towards my own death.

How ironic, when I wanted my legs to move, they felt frozen, and now that I want them to feel frozen, I am running...

Sorry, Dearg and Rin, it appears that I failed to protect the promise and the one I love.
