DANA
The car honk sounded twice. I didn't hear the first once, or perhaps I did, but my brain simply filtered the sound, overpowered by my raging heartbeat. The dress was hung on the wall, ironed and sprayed with perfume. Everything was all prepared and Neil was on his way to pick me up. It's 1:25 on the clock and the wedding is at 3:00 pm. It's a finale. The closing of the book.
My final test. If this should fail, then Ivor and I shall.
I hired a makeup artist for my hair and face. The only instruction I gave was to make sure I stand out at the crowd. Well, as I observed the end product of what she did to my face, I admit my request was granted. I also had an instant haircut. My long hair was clipped into a shoulder level bob. Half of my hair was kept up on a loose braid. With minimal jewelry, the look was complete. The main purpose for the look was to emphasize the back of the dress.
