Suzi whipped her head back to the professor and frowned. The reason for his interruption was not known nor could he be allowed to cut in midway.
When she looked over to the headmistress for her intervention on this subject, she had a broad smile spread across her face with the next words.
"Please do have your seat, but please do not intervene in any way," Maiyu replied with a forced smile.
Tenji took a seat by Maiyu's side and shrugged his shoulders. He had wanted to speak on a part of Suzi's spell formation that was bound to affect the rest in the long run and cause a bit of a catastrophe for their presentation.
"Yes, headmistress Maiyu," Tenji replied with a low bow, not wanting to disrespect her in front of the students.
Suzi waited for a nod of confirmation that they could continue. Once that was met, she turned her attention to Tria. She took Suzi's hand ready to give her a spin, the spell formation spread across her whole body.
Giving Tria a spin, her eyes glowed once more and the blue glow wrapped around Tria's body, and four balls of light branched out from her.
These four balls of light grew in size until they were of the same height of 164cm as Tria who was still spinning and wrapped in a transparent, blue twisting wave.
She tried to contain the mana distribution but slowly she was losing control and her mental connection was broken.
Boom!
A cloud of blue smoke engulfed the surrounding area.
Cough!
Cough!
Suzi's eyes roamed in search of Tria. This wasn't part of what they practiced and dashed to her hovering spell book in a rush.
Once the smoke had settled, there was applause, with a majority thinking it wasn't a transformation and duplication spell but rather a disappearing act.
Rumi held Asahi's hand, stopping him from joining the majority. Something didn't feel right about what just happened.
When she saw a nod of confirmation from Miku who also sensed the same thing, she gritted her teeth as she tried to calm down.
Tenji slapped his hands on the table in rage, "what is going on with most of you, why the hell are you clapping?!"
Before a student could respond, he was caught off by a panic scream from Suzi.
"This... This wasn't part of what was meant to happen!" She cried out as she repeatedly flipped through its pages with trembling hands.
Tenji looked furiously at Maiyu and mouthed incoherent words at her involvement in all of this.
Rumi pulled up Asahi, "Professor Tenji..."
Temporarily distracted by the call, he tilted his head at the two. "Do you have anything to say?"
Asahi spoke through the corner of his lips, "yes, Rumi, do we have any reason to be standing?"
Rumi stood her ground and held his arm in place and replied in a like manner, "don't you want that grade point?"
'What the heck is she talking about?' Asahi had wanted to blurt out the words from his thoughts, but then it all started to click on why she had picked him.
He could detect mana signatures and manipulate the mana of those who were a grade lower than he was, although he considered it useless given that he was as good as any average student within the 10th grade score.
Closing his eyes and concentrating his focus on Tria, his eyes popped back open at the realization.
"She's in the 13th grade!" He muttered with happiness.
He was in grade 15th which could mean he would be able to help in search of Tria.
Rumi forced a smile and pushed Asahi into a portal that brought him in front of the professor's high-rise table.
Asahi looked behind him and glared at Rumi before focusing his attention on the one professor that he had never been comfortable with–professor Tenji.
"He can help in accurately pinpointing her location, all he needs is to be in contact with anything or anyone who has made contact with the person in question that is within his grade range," Rumi explained enthusiastically.
'Thank you for the brief intro, very much appreciated but you just dug a grave for me.' Asahi's brows twitched in frustration.
He had never been one to discuss his ability and had intentionally never participated in any of the presentations since his three months of acceptance into the academy after moving to Meiji.
Befriending Rumi had been a bittersweet memory that he couldn't describe in words, but currently, he felt like manipulating her mana if he was in her range and sending her to the northern region as she had done to him.
They had originally planned on making a part of their presentation on manipulation of mana which only his clan could do so there was no way anyone could know about it without showing interest in research materials that had topics with rare abilities.
Dai and his minions would have been the perfect candidates since they were in a similar range as he was, but they had been suspended because of the professor he had tried not to despise for Rumi's sake.
He couldn't be spiteful of Tenji since the headmistress also had a hand in the suspension–there was no way of being angry with a little punishment from such a magnificent beauty with a kind heart.
Tenji did a scan of the student with his eyes and the first thing that came to mind was why he was a little overdressed.
His eyes were glued to the name tag, 'Asahi Mikan.'
Underneath the straight face he put upfront, he knew very well the clan this young lad belonged to and had studied him enough to know his capabilities–all he needed was proper training. This had been one of the reason he needed the duo to win the presentation.
Clearing his throat, he deepened his voice as he spoke. "Can you do this?"
'Are you testing my capabilities?' Asahi sneered, feeling threatened by his comment.
Suzi couldn't watch the two engaged in a glaring stand-off anymore, not after she knew what was needed to get her friend back from listening to Rumi's explanation. She rushed forward and pulled him by the hand.
"Asahi, please save my friend, I would do anything in my power!" She pleaded with teary eyes.
