Kalen's pov
It wasn't long after the shock i received this morning that he walked in, he spotted me almost immediately and came over to my side to pester me,
"Kalen, it's been a while"
he said dryly
"it seems the infestation has extracted himself from the premises but unfortunately he will be back on the morrow precautions would be advised but you and Lorain never do listen to me"
"Mr Howin the alchemist on Briggs road"

"got it again didn't you"
he spoke while wiping a tear in the corner of his eye, his name was Felix Myre and he was not only an S-class spell caster but also my best friend and right now we just finished one of our traditions we do in the morning, he would come in while imitating a random person we know and i would try to guess that person it was a stupid game we'd been playing for so long i can scarcely remember when we started but one things for sure i had never lost and he had never ended it without a smile on his face.
He was fairly tall, a little shorter than i that is, 6 feet on the dot, now to most people that would be much but blade users are often taller than that some a whole foot taller than us but spell casters no, his blonde hair shown like gold and his jaw was Sharpe and straight like a soldier while on paper his appearance made him out to be someone to be afraid of his emerald green eyes always seemed to twinkle like someone was constantly telling him jokes right in his ear as such his disposition was always boisterous and jovial, he had undergone his grand cosmic awakening a few months ago and begun working out so as to improve his body's capability in handling mana as such his but which used to quite pronounced had noticibly lessened and his frame had become quite imposing.

a short reply as it was obvious he urgently wanted to tell me something
"guess what, Shianne said she'd go out me"
i wasn't that surprised as Shianne had actually confided in Lorain that she had a thing for him who in turn told me to convince him to ask her out and lo and behold here we are
"you want to go tell me how it went"
"OK so remember that plan i wanted to use"
"the one where you'd wait until we had a dangerous job and you'd tell her just before you go in order to make it sound more romantic and i also remember desperately trying to dissuade you from doing said plan as it was foolhardy"
his smile dimmed before he replied dejectedly
"yes, that plan"
before he picked himself up saying
" anyway as i arrived at her place ready to out that plan into motion that's when i saw her and before i could say anything she greeted me and told me about how she had a date and the moment i heard that i shouted out 'i love you with all of my heart, i always have and i always will' before i could apologize for my out burst she gently placed both hands around my face while saying 'idiot i knew about your stupid plan, i knew how you felt about me and i also know that outburst of yours is going to get me in trouble with the neighbors' i was mortified beyond belief but i still found courage to ask 'so what's your answer'"

as he ended the story a dazed expression adorned his face as if he was reliving the greatest moment of his life and although his story was hilarious enough to move anyone to tears i didn't laugh, rather i was proud of the bastard he and Shianne had been skipping around each other Felix despite aperrances wasn't very outspoken while Shianne who was known to be very out and about with her feelings became mute in front of him all in all seeing my best friend in such a happy state was a very warm sight.

realisation donned his face a little too late but still

Segments are how the cities are divided with each belonging to a particular Don and the first as the name implied belonged to Don number1
"dude you've got to help me, i know, what if you and Lorain came with we could have a double date please just for tonight that way we make things even safer and once this is over we can pretend this never happened"
"do you know what i recommend, i recommend you quickly rush over to Shainne and reschedule your date and besides Lorain can't come unless you want to double date with Regis"
his head jerked up at my last words before replying
"huh"
"Lorain's going with Regis tonight"
my explanation only seems to confuse him more before he shouts

in the last few seconds Felix had shown me several faces a person could make when they were dumbstruck whille i just watched even though i felt the same

"i mean you're not really close to any other girl are you Lorain's you're only female friend while she barely has any male ones everyone here thought it was a given you'd end up together but i guess not"
although he said it casually, what i heard couldn't help but stick with me when i look back on my life i could accurately tell when i had felt love, it was always in the eyes of my parents, in the eyes of Varius a being so powerful if Don's heard that i called him uncle i doubt they'd have the nerve to look me in the eye, the eyes of my friends who i'd shed blood and sweat with and most especially her, but hers was different, it started out just like that of everyone else but after a while the air around her changed, the feeling i got when i looked her straight in the eyes was different from what i had been accustomed to, it was nlt in anyway warmer but held a different kind of vibrancy that the other had but when i think about it, i had seen that vibrancy before, it was when Felix and Shainne looked at each other but that impossible i had known her since we were little there's no way she felt that way about me...or did she.

"huh, sorry it seems i spaced out there for a second can you repeat that"
"well i asked if you could wait here while i go clarify things with the love of my life"

then he bolted out the doors right the way he came like, well a man in love but how would a girl in the same position act or did it vary from person to person and if so does Lorain love me and if so did she expect something from me when she said yes to Regis, a million thoughts ran through my head, a million questions requiring a million answers, or one, one question to resolve the conundrum in my head 'Lorain do you like me' i was suddenly hit by a fear that an S-class monster couldn't replicate,one probably similar to what Felix felt this morning a smirk came to my face i tried to calm my desperately pounding legs as i tried resolved myself maybe tonight when saw her and tried to bring the words to my mouth i would get tongue tied or maybe when the time comes and the question comes to mind maybe just maybe i will
