Chapter 7 - The Biggest Decision of my Childhood

My uncle looked at my aunt and chuckled out loud while she giggled excessively causing me to frown to myself for a moment until i noticed my parents looking at me in confusion. My uncle then spoke up in a deep voice and said "We have heard you out my dear nephew but you are only a year old." to which my father then slowly looked towards my uncle and in a slow voice asked him, "Brother, would you mind sharing what my boy has asked you?"

My uncle the king then voiced that i had wanted to become a royal knight-in-training. The one second my father was confused and frowning and the next second he was smiling gloriously and had his chest puffed up with pride.

The king looked to my father and smiled, took a deep breath and said "August, I will respect your sons wishes to be a royal Knight-in-training but I expect him to be in good shape and have decent swordsmanship capability by the time he turns to the age of five, or his dream will not come true. As you know in 4 years time our great country will be holding our Royal Tournament of Worthiness, and although he is of royal blood i shall not alot him a spot without proving his merit and win his spot in the top three." my mother looked to my father as if to say 'You know what you must do', and i have to admit that it made me nervous to see her look like that at that moment.

my father smiled cruelly at me and looked me in the eyes and said, "Prepare yourself for hell, son"
