Chapter 38 - The Sect Hall

Ye Dahai didn't want Ye Yan to join Upper Three Heavens. That celestial sect sounded far, and it wasn't as practical as being by his side. How could he send his son, who he had raised, to be someone else's disciple?

The kid was only eight years old! Back in the village, he would not be mistreated no matter what. He could eat good food, have fun, and live a good life. However, he might be treated differently if he was sent to the celestial sect. As a father, he found it hard to accept.

When he heard Ye Dayang mention Ye Yan going to the Upper Three Heavens, he had been shocked and worried that the latter really wanted to join the celestial sect. But after hearing Ye Yan's seemingly thoughtless answer, he let out a sigh of relief.

When the group returned to Dumen Village, it was already afternoon. The people who had finished their lunch break had already started working. As soon as he entered the village, Ye Yan sensed people's attention, so he slightly tilted his head and looked in a certain direction.

It was the gazes of Liu Yi's second uncle and youngest uncle. They were working in the fields, looking up at Ye Yan's group from time to time, their eyes full of fear.

When Ye Yan threw a glance at them, they immediately felt their hair stand on end as if they were being stared at by a wolf. They trembled and hurriedly lowered their heads as if nothing had happened.

When the others saw the Ye family's people looking at the Liu family's people in the fields after their return, they immediately knew what was going on and began to discuss.

"In all honesty, the Liu family deserves it. They always mess around. Now, thank God, Liu Tao is crippled!"

"The Liu family could only be so arrogant because of Liu Tao's domineering attitude. Now that the family head has been crippled and they have no backing, look at how useless these people are. They don't even dare to look at him!"

The people's voices were crisp and clear. They had no intention of hiding anything, so their words reached Second Uncle Liu and Third Uncle Liu's ears without missing a word.

The two of them had flushed faces as if they had eaten rat poop. They didn't dare to raise their heads to refute, but only lowered their heads and worked silently. Not far away, Ye Yan also heard the crowd's discussion, but he didn't care.

He had already broken the tendons in Liu Tao's arms and legs. The current Liu family could not even be considered a clown. They would definitely not dare to cause any trouble. Even if they dared to act rashly, without Liu Tao, Ye Yan believed that Liu Yi alone was enough to deal with the remaining group of trash.

Compared to the Liu family, Ye Yan was more worried about something else. Hong En had told him yesterday that he would be going to the town market too, but he didn't show up all day.

This shouldn't be. Something must have happened. The more he thought about it, the weirder Ye Yan found it. Ye Yan felt a little uneasy, so when they reached the floor of the northern mountain, he stopped abruptly.

"Little rascal, what's wrong?" Ye Dahai turned to look at his son, not knowing what he was up to.

"Dad, uncle, aunt, you guys go first. I have to go up the mountain for a while," Ye Yan took out the cloth bag and took out the money bag from it, handing it to Ye Dahai, "Dad, a portion of the money is for my sect's construction. Don't pocket it all..."

Before he could finish his words, he felt an iron fist of love hit his head.

"Hey, you little rascal!" Ye Dahai laughed and grabbed the money bag, "Why would your father covet your money? Go now. Don't go home tonight. Go to your grandfather's place. We'll have dinner there."

Ye Yan acknowledged the order and disappeared. He ran at full speed and arrived at the sect encampment.

As soon as he arrived, Ye Yan felt several auras. Chen Geng and the others were cultivating seriously. Ye Yan walked into the room quietly, looking around without alerting the others.

"Shit, Hong En isn't here..." Ye Yan thought that Hong En had forgotten about the appointment, but the latter didn't even come to cultivate. Something must have happened.

Wait! According to the village's customs, the villagers were all gossipmongers. If something had happened to Hong En's family, he would have heard about it earlier.

Ye Yan opened the sect panel and looked at Hong En's panel. There was nothing unusual, so he gave up the idea of going down the mountain to find him. Right now, the sect's hall was more important. After all, there were rewards for completing missions. He didn't have enough spirit stones now, and the automatic cultivation function would only last for a few days. He had to find a new source of income quickly.

The materials for building the hall were all prepared. Ye Yan saw a large pile of red soil beside the encampment when he was coming up the mountain. It seemed that Chen Geng had dug it with the others at noon.

The only problem left was the wood. This could be easily resolved though. Ye Yan was very familiar with the process. He picked up the axe in the sect and rushed into the forest.

Now that he was already a cultivator in the first level of the intermediate Qi-forging Realm, his physical strength and ability to detect auras were much better than ordinary people. It was not a problem for him to cut down dozens of trees. Ye Yan rushed into the forest and started cutting down trees when he saw solid ones.

"Crack!"

Ye Yan cut trees down with his axe as if he was cutting vegetables. He didn't pause at all and rushed to the next target tree without stopping. Once again, he easily cut the tree down.

For a time, there were only the constant sounds of trees crashing in the forest. One by one, the trees fell, raising clouds of dust. Ye Yan calculated in his heart. The amount of wood needed wasn't much, so it didn't take long for him to cut enough wood for the hall.

Considering that the cultivation room would also need wood in the future, he conveniently cut some more and put them in the internal storage. While they were on the topic, he kept a goal in mind when cutting down trees. He would not just focus on one spot. He tend to went for the more solid ones that grew sparsely. If he didn't do this and cut down too many trees in the same area, the northern mountain would be bare and ugly.

Few people came to the northern mountain, except for hunters. But for some reason, the wild beasts all hid deep into the mountains these years, so even hunters didn't come here often.

Now, even if someone wanted to occupy the northern mountain, no one would object. Dumen Village was in a remote location, and the imperial court couldn't care less about it. It was just a small piece of land, so they didn't even send many people to develop the place.

For this reason, Ye Yan naturally took the northern mountain as his sect's territory. As such, he had to protect the image of his sect, right?

Seeing that the materials were almost ready, Ye Yan didn't intend to continue cutting, so he collected all the wood and returned to the encampment. Sitting down under the root willow, he opened the system and opened the construction synthesis function. More than half of the red soil in the internal storage was put into the soil grid, and then a dozen pieces of wood were put into the pillar grid.

The amount he put in was a little more than his estimations. He also put in the paint he bought in town so that the system could help him paint the building. Although the paint couldn't show much effect, it was better than the building only being red and black bricks. Then, he seemed to have thought of something, and the expression on his face suddenly became hesitant. Following this, he made up his mind. As if he had decided on something, he added an extra grid to the synthesis interface.

"It's the last spirit stone, so let's just put it in," Ye Yan made up his mind and moved the last spirit stone into the grid, then clicked "synthesize".

[Ding, ding, ding, ding! The synthesis of the sect's hall has been successful!]
