A voice boomed intrusively into the room. The door was flung open and by the threshold, stood a cold, hot-tempered Lucas. His eyes were glowing onyx, his wolf was crawling out on the surface and before anything could be said, he leapt onto the wretched messenger.
With a loud thud both Lucas's and Asher's body fell to the cold wooden floor. It was almost expected of Michael to act out in such a foolish way but even Evelyn didn't think Lucas would react so vigorously at the mention of her name.
"You dog! How dare you call her name!" Lucas threw punches across Asher's face and cursed continuously until half of Asher's face looked like badly roasted piece of meat.
Instinctively Evelyn launched towards the fight in both freight and shock. The boys were trying to rip apart Lucas from Asher as Lawson stood in a corner with amusement flashing on his face. He could be enjoying the scene more than anyone.
Lucas's old wounds had begun to resurrect on his flesh as pure madness masked every human emotion on his face. He looked horrifying and in the mood to kill. If Evelyn hadn't seen this incident before her own eyes, she wouldn't have believed that the calm and collected Lucas had such a dark side.
'Every male is the same when it comes to their mate.' Evelyn concluded.
Evelyn silently turned back, feeling the silence in her heart. She had a guess it had something to do with her mate so she proceeded to check up on him.
As she got closer to him, she was given a brief look of depression on his face. His eyes were casted down, his mind lost in another world and his hands balled into fists with his face showing every bit of anger. But even with all of that, he was awfully and unexpectedly calm. His demeanor scared her. Perhaps she would've appreciated more if he'd just yelled at Asher or showed his strength but this sudden turn of events was terrifying.
Sitting by him on the lounge, she gently skimmed the tip of her fingers on his palm, loosening his grip on his hands. She was still unsure what to do as she kept leaning closer and hoping to calm him by her presence, began to elevate her hand to touch his face. However, a strong clutch around her wrist made her stop half way.
She looked startled at the sudden contact but soothed down when she saw it was just Michael's hand. He took a deep prolonged breath before he eventually decided to spare her a glance and even then, his eyes were cold and his face stern like every other brutal alpha out there.
He stood up with a painful grasp around her wrist. He wasn't gentle, he was putting out his anger on her. He didn't seem fazed by the pitiful reaction on her face by his harsh grip nor did he spare her an apologetic glimpse. He was abruptly . . . ruthless towards her and the change of outlook in his eyes cautioned Evelyn to stay away.
He looked Asher dead straight in the eye when he adjusted back to his legs with a half bruised face. "I don't trust your words. I need full evidence." Michael said and his tone sounded more daunting and the kind to send creeps down her spine.
Asher nodded before pulling out his phone and typing something on it. I just stood there as Michael's gaze remained fixated on Asher, daring him to pull a foolish stunt.
When Asher was done, he handed the phone to Michael and played a video that was taken this morning. There was a girl in that, positioned on a broken chair as lashes were blown her way. Evelyn immediately closed her eyes at the horrendous sight. The room was dark but the woman's bright forest green eyes were staring at the camera, beaming in all the darkness. That evidence was enough to confirm every doubt.
Michael's blood ran cold and his face reddened at the scene. He was beyond angry as he figured Asher was right. But what could this mean? Anastasia was alive all this long?
Michael wanted to tear William apart for keeping her mother away all this time, to deprive him of the parental love. Michael would not let that William see another sunrise if he dared to kill his mother now. He would do anything to protect her.
"When?" Michael growled, tearing his sight from the torturous video on the phone and in his anger, he gripped the phone so hard that with a creaking sound, it broke into pieces on the floor.
No one seemed to notice his bloodied hand except for Evelyn. She was inspecting his palm for any severe injuries as they waited for Asher's reply.
"William will meet you at the territorial line along with Anastasia and his pack, tonight. He's expecting to see you and his daughter." Asher notified.
Michael dangerously with an intimidating aura crossed the distance between them and looked down at the six and half feet tall Asher. With Michael's gaze boring into Asher's eyes, he talked ever so calmly but with the most threatening tone Evelyn could ever imagine.
"If your friend pushed my limits this time Asher, warn him that this will be our ultimate pack war. I'll tear his pitiful wolf apart and then I will wipe his entire family off the face of earth, starting with his brothers and ending with his mate." Michael snarled at Asher's face before leaning back away from hin and ordering the gamma to escort him outside.
Little by little time passed in a suffocating silence with Evelyn's heartbeat quickening every second. No one spoke a word; some were angry, some sad and some stayed still in shock. Michael didn't turn to glance at her and Evelyn's weight suddenly felt too heavy to be carried by her slim legs.
She was scared of going back. She knew Michael was her enemy and they could never be together, yet she went to him and offered her dignity, her everything and he took it, promising that he would never let anyone break their special bond. And now he was going to willingly hand her over.
She sat there with these thoughts as Michael bolted out of her sight. His absence made the slightest hole in her heart; he didn't even try to console her. He wouldn't try to fix this, he had made his decision.
Within the moments, everyone left without uttering anything to her. Lucas did spare her a glance but his gaze wasn't soft. He was acting as though she was the reason of all their miseries. She hadn't believed Lucas would act this cruel towards her but then again, 'Every male is the same when it comes to their mate . . . except for mine.' She sobbed at the last part. How easily could he make a deal about her life without concerning her?
He was no different than William. Both of these men had made her feel like a complete 'good for nothing.' When all she asked for was love, they showered her with uncountable wounds.
