Here lies the Guardian
Keeper of the Dragonstone
And a Force of unending
Rage and Darkness
It's then I hear a loud crack as the tomb behind me cracks open, I hold up my hands, turning around to bathe the sarcophagus in flame and lightning as Faendal starts sending arrows into the joints of the ancient guardian as Lokir brings his blade down on its skull.
Allowing us to end it before it even had the chance to use its shout. Which is when I begin looting the guardian and the chest, as I take away the dragonstone Faendal speaks up.
"My friend, what are we really doing here?" Faendal asks with confusion as I begin to put away the stone.
"Let's take care of this first and I'll tell you once we take stock." I offer as I begin gathering loot as Faendal just nods.
After situating the gear and taking out all the loot I could find, opening the secret passage, gathering everything from there, and returning to the word wall chamber I sit on the treasure test and take a long drink of my water skin before motioning Lokir and Faendal to rest on the nearby table.
"Alright, might as well come clean with why I wanted to go further into the burrow... You see, I had a vision about this stone here, something tells me I should bring it with me to Whiterun. I knew it was important the same way I knew that wall was important. You may not know since I didn't talk about it much after getting into town, but Lokir will vouch for my abilities. I came from a clan of foreseers and my visions have brought me to Skyrim in order to change the fates I had once seen. Now, let's backtrack through the burrows, gather up all this loot, and head back to Riverwood. Unless you have more questions?" I tell Faendal as I rig up a cart to go back through the dungeon... Man do I love the freedom to let my inner loot goblin out.
"I see... That is quite a lot to process... Can you see my future?" Faendal asks while picking up a few random potions and loose septims.
"Yes and no. I knew your future... But since me and Lokir popped into your life... My vision of your future is no longer clear and it may differ greatly now that we are here... Or nothing will change? The future and fate are fickle things." I tell Faendal as Lokir helps push up the cart with a great heave.
"May I ask what my future was?" Faendal asks with slight trepidation in his voice.
"Are you sure about that Faendal? It can be pretty jarring knowing your future, especially if it isn't something you want to hear. Trust me." Lokir speaks up after getting the cart to the top of the stairs nearby.
"Yes, I need to know what was in store for me." Faendal replies resolutely as he turns to me, nodding me to continue.
"Well... It's extremely boring and quite sad. You continue working at the mill, Sven eventually woos Camila, and you end up alone with only Embry to keep you company as you slowly drink yourself to death from heartbreak. You never went on adventures... Never got rich... Never left your mark... Never found happiness..." I say quietly as I get the cart passed the disarmed swinging blade traps as I wonder if there is any way to salvage the blades or mechanism.
"But... What does that mean for me now? Camila has been accepting my advances and you two have become my friends?" Faendal says looking between me and Lokir with a lost look on his face before Lokir places his hand on Faendal's shoulder.
"I'll tell ya what the Boss told me when he saved my life, 'You can be anything you desire, but I would be a fool not to ask you to join me on my journey to shape the fate of this land, if not all of Tameriel.' The future isn't written in stone, I'm livin' proof of that, and you're always welcome with us." Lokir reassures Faendal as we continue down to Riverwood in silence.
