HER
"Sweetie, could you hand me those pills over there?"
"The blue ones?"
"Claudia, don't you touch those," Grandma walks in. Her hands on her hips and she does not look happy. "Selena, how could you?" She turns to my mom angrily. "Mom, I need them," My mom says helplessly. She looked weak and barely present.
"No! My goodness, Selena. How could you leave those lying around when your 10 year old is roaming around the house? What if she thinks it's candy?"
"I've never fed her any candy mom,"
"Oh really now, Selena?" I turn to see my mom roll her eyes. "Are you guys fighting?"
I ask. "No sweetie," My mom reaches out for me but grandma steps in between us. "Mom!" My mom stands up. "I'm not going to hurt my own daughter,"
"Selena, you're not in the right state of mind,"
"I can't believe you're believe doing this,"
"Selena listen to me-"
"No, mom. I am not going to listen to you. I don't want to hear that I can't love and take care of my own daughter,"
"How can you when you're barely even here?" And then the room went silent. "The truth hurts, doesn't it?" My mom only nods, and I see her eyes turn from drowsy, to watery within seconds. She turns her heel, walking to the door before shutting it with a loud thud.
I didn't question what just happened and just kept quiet. Biting the inside of my cheek as I played with my toys.
A few minutes had passed and the house was still dead silent. I got up my feet and walked over to my mom's room. I stop at her door to knock, but all I hear is a noise. "Mommy?" I knock again but this time I hear nothing, so I slowly open the door.
My eyes catch a figure lying on the floor, her body was slightly shaking. "MOMMY!" I felt a big lump resting in my throat. I ran towards her, her eyes were only halfway closed. "Claudia," She calls for me. "Mommy? I'm here," I feel my breath hitch and a hot tear trail down my cheek. My heart was beating so fast I thought it was going to jump out.
"Take.. care of your... grandma, okay?"
"Mommy, no! You promised me, you promised,"
"I'm sorry," I see a tear rolling down her cheek and she wipes mine. "Don't cry for me, my child,"
"I love you," She whispers. "I love you too mommy but please don't leave," Right after those words come out of my mouth, her body starts shaking. From her head, all the way to her feet. "Mommy! Grandma help, help me!"
I hear running at the back of me. "Claudia, why are yelling li- Selena?"
"Grandma, call someone. She can't die,"
And she did.

HIM
I wear the sound of a beep, one that I heard every morning. I slam my hand over it, and it goes silent.
I open my eyes, but everything seems to be dark, my brows come together. It was so dark and I couldn't see a thing. I remove the duvet, getting out of the bed, only to feel my body crashing on the ground in a second. The ground, I could only feel it. I couldn't see a thing. I groan, pounding my fist on the floor.
I find myself letting out a roar because I felt so helpless and useless. My fist hit the wall and that earned another roar from me.
Why couldn't I see?
I hear running footsteps. "Man, what happened?"
"I can't see," I say through gritted teeth. "What?"
"Isaak, I can't see! Don't you get it, I see nothing. It's like I'm blind,"
He stays silent for a about a second now. "When did this happen?"
"When I woke up, just now," I answer. My throat felt dry, my eyes were heavy and I couldn't see a thing. "Are the lights on?" I ask and I get no answer. I clench my jaw to ask him one more time, growing frustrated. "Are. The. Lights. On?"
"Yes," The word comes out slowly.
"FUCK!" I roar again and this time I feel a hot liquid tracing my cheeks. "Man, we need to get you to a doctor,"
It had been a full month now, I was back at the hell hole these teachers called school. The doctors tried to make me feel better by saying sweet nothings I didn't need or want to hear.
"Baby," I heard the only voice that brought a smile to my face. "Ree,"
"How are you?" I felt her arms on around my neck. "I'm better now that you're here," I could almost see her, rolling her eyes. Her smile that reached her eyes. The image was slowly fading.
I hear her sigh and I knew something was up. "What's the matter?"
"I can't do this," She removes her arms, leaving me cold. "Ree, what are you talking about, "
"I'm talking about us, Luciano. I can't do this. I can't be in a relationship like... this. I can't be with-"
"Someone like me?"
"I didn't mean it like that, Luciano. But how can I love someone who can't even see me? I can't and I won't,"
The last thing I felt was a small breeze, a mixture of her perfume, running chills down my skin.
