Devin walked toward the entrance and said, "I'm going outside to hunt for something for our lunch and dinner."
He left the cave after saying that. Uncle Steven and I just stay in the cave without talking. Fortunately, the previous day we brought a lot of wood, so we didn't have to worry about it.
Sometime later, I think the rain will increase. It didn't show any sign of stopping. Fortunately, there were no thunderstorms.
Devon still didn't come back. I looked outside of the cave. Everything seems to have slowed down in the rain. No sun is visible in the sky and all around is full of clouds. I don't know when this rain will stop, but if there will be rain like this tomorrow, then it will be terrible for us.
After a while, Devin returned to the cave. I see three rabbits with him. He took off his raincoat, stepped aside, and stood in front of the fire. In spite of wearing a raincoat in this rain, his clothes are wet inside.
"I found these three rabbits with great difficulty. I couldn't see anything around in the rain, but luckily I found them. This will be our lunch and dinner today." Devin told me.
Uncle Steven quickly began to prepare our lunch. I also helped him. On rainy days you can't tell about the time. But, I am feeling hungry, so it is a natural time to eat lunch.
After finishing our lunch, we sat down near the entrance and looked outside. We were happy to see that the rain had subsided a bit. If it continues to decrease like this, then hopefully the rain will stop entirely by tomorrow. We still have a long way to go. Hundreds of mountains are far away from here. I now think I heard that King Alexander used to go to that mountain to meet the Nimu tribe. How did he go so far?
"Jacques, my friend, King Alexander, did not go there on foot as we do. He went there on his horse. I also heard that the people of that Nimu tribe built a road through the forest for the King's travel. Now, with the passage of time, that road has merged into the forest, but we can still see some remnants of it. I'm just wondering how we will get to Sathadal Hills, avoiding these Nimu tribesmen." Devin told me.
No, it's really a matter of concern that we'll climb the mountain ahead of the Nemo tribe people. Many times, people have tried to talk to them. But as soon as the Nimu tribesmen saw outsiders, they attacked.
Devin, me, and Uncle Steven don't want to fight those tribal people. Now we need to think of something so that we don't have to fight.
"I don't know what will happen. But I won't come back this far. If I have to fight, I will fight, but I will climb hundreds of mountains." Devin said. I just nodded, hearing him. I am also not willing to go back after coming this far.
_____________
Devin and I ventured out of the cave to fetch water as the rain eased a bit in the evening. We went to the river with bottles and started filling them with water. I have read in many books and TV shows that people drink water directly from such rivers. But water spreads many diseases in this neem forest so we will boil the water well fast. It won't be good if I get sick while searching for this treasure. Then our entire journey will be in vain.
Darkness is falling all around and we are hurrying towards the cave with water, but suddenly I don't know why it seems that someone is behind us. I quickly looked back. It was almost dark inside the forest, so nothing could be seen. As I shone my torch into the forest. I saw two burning eyes.
My whole body shivered. For a moment, I lost my senses. With these two eyes, I will see tomorrow from outside the cave. I can see these two burning eyes again. It feels like someone is holding me. No words can come out of my mouth and I can't move. You could say I turned into a complete stone statue.
Luckily, I'm not alone. I have Devin with me. At first, I didn't realize when he came to my side. But when he came to my side, he asked, "Jack, what's wrong with you? Why are you standing there like that?"
Suddenly, I don't know why I regained some of my energy and I told him in my trembling voice, "Devin, look, the burning eyes."
He also saw those two burning eyes when he looked directly at me. From that deep darkness, those two eyes are coming toward us slowly. Devin got serious when he saw that. He already took his gun in his hand. He and I look into those burning eyes.
Seeing this, all the energy I had left. I was very scared again. Soon we will die.
"Don't be afraid. Just stand still." Devin suddenly told me. Even if Devin doesn't say that, I'll stand still. I have no power to speak and no power to move. I saw Devin with his gun pointed at that eye. I saw those two eyes come very close to us. In the dark night, you see no moonlight or stars in the sky, but two burning eyes are coming toward you. The first and worst feeling of my life.
But I was immediately startled when I heard gunshots. I regained my ability to walk and speak at that time. I immediately turned around to see Devin fire those two bullets.
Instantly, I heard a roar. Not just any roar, a dangerous roar. Hearing this, the body trembled. I quickly asked in my scared voice, "What's that sound, Devin?"
"I'll tell you later, but our main job now is to get out of here." With that, Davey started running towards the cave. I also started running behind him without thinking about anything.
