I changed my clothes into those you would normally see a commoner wear and walked towards the magic circle I set up in my room. The moment I stood over it and moved a little mana a bright light flashed and encompassed my whole body.
When I reappeared I was in an alleyway in the city. I put my hood up and picked up some dirt to rub on my face and in my hair, if I don't do this then it's a dead giveaway that I'm a noble to anyone with half a brain, I mean what kind of person can wash their hair who isn't a noble?
I made my way down the main street after emerging from the alleyway. On the street wooden stalls lined both sides with various shops on top of the cracked and poorly paved dirt road. Two story buildings surround you in all directions cutting off your views of the forest scenery surrounding the kingdom. If you looked around the only thing you could see other than the sky was one large building in the distance. It was a majestic and impressive castle in the middle of the country and also the place I lived.
As I peeked around the stalls I found my favourite one, it was a food stand that cooked the best meat in the kingdom.
"Hey Ricky! I'll take some of your beef skewers." I called out to the shop owner.
"Oh, it's you, Miz! Welcome back. I haven't seen you around here for a while! Haha!"
I had gained the alias Miz one day when I forgot to make a fake name and was put on the spot. So I just slightly altered the ending of my name.
"I just couldn't stay away for long when you make food this good! It feels like I'm cursed to keep coming back." I compliment his food.
"It can't be that good if I'm still stuck selling at a street stand." Rickey replies with humility.
"No, no, that's the best part! I don't have to go to some fancy restaurant and wait a few hours to get such quality food. Keep up the good work!"
I took the food he gave me and left a few gold coins for him. It only cost 10 silver but I have enough money to waste and I wasn't lying when I said this was the best meat in the kingdom. Ricky deserves a few extra coins for his hard work.
"Hey, Miz! You can't just pay 30 times the amount every time you come here!" Rickey's the only person I know who would refuse free money.
"Say hello to Martha and the kids for me!"
I smiled and waved back at him as I escaped into the crowd.
I ripped off a piece of meat with my teeth. Fuck, it's always so good! It's worth way more than 3 gold coins. I get shit half as good as this for 5 gold coins in the shitty high class restaurants I have to go to.
As I was lost in my thoughts and the taste of the heavenly food I accidentally bumped into someone.
I heard a thump and saw a bag of mostly silver coins with a few gold ones inside land on the ground and spill out.
"Ah, oops, my bad. Are you alright?" I quickly asked.
"Shitty fuckin' brat! Who do you think you are?!"A large man with a rough appearance asked.
His two friends standing beside him looked like his goons right now. I took a quick peek over his shoulder and saw a lady in a cloak a lot like mine that covered her whole body and face.
I pointed at myself and tilted my head. "Me?"
I could see the anger in his eyes as he started getting a little red with the blood rushing to his head.
"Yeah you! Who the fuck else would I be talking about?! Who do you think you are?"
I held my chin for a moment in thought as I calculated my position.
"I like to think I'm first, but if you ask anyone else they would say I'm the second most important person in this kingdom."
"Wha- What is this shitty brat saying?"
He asked his little entourage. When they both shrugged and looked at each other confused he seemed to drop the issue.
However, he only refocused on me.
"Hey kid! Pick up my money that you knocked over!" He demanded.
"Uhh… ok?"
I mean, I have nothing else to do, so why now play around with these guys for a little.
I bent over and started to collect the few coins that fell out of the bag and gave it back to him. The moment I picked up the final coin I saw a black boot growing in size as it closed in on my face.
However, an inch from my face, it suddenly stopped. I looked up to see the girl in a cloak from a moment ago standing before me with her foot raised to meet the thugs. Her body was lightly shining in a translucent light, probably invisible to the untrained eye.
Aura, huh? That's pretty rare for someone of that age. She also has great control over it to make it nearly invisible, usually those are bright blue.
"Huuuuh??! H-how did this little girl from before stop my kick?"
Uhh, could you be any more of a cliché dickbag dude? In a world where overall strength is rarely determined by your physical strength and is almost always based on your mana and or aura why the fuck are you so surprised?
Fuckin' dumbasses everywhere… Even when I leave the castle it doesn't seem to matter.
