Although Dante cares about his girls very much. The feeling wasn't really mutual for his family.
Aside from protecting his girls, the only one he truly ever cared about in his family was none other than his mother.
To Dante, his mother meant the world to him. She was the one who stopped Damon, his father from completely turning Dante into a slave of Damon's business dreams.
Damon wanted Dante to focus solely on their family business just like his brother and sister but Dante never wanted such dream for himself.
His father had tried several ways to force him into accepting his proposal but Suzanne couldn't take it anymore and she begged Damon not to stop Dante from doing what he wanted.
Among all her three children, Suzanne didn't get to shower any of them with the motherly love she wanted to offer them due to the difference in power Damon and her had.
This power wasn't in terms of power levels but rather in terms of financial strength.
Suzanne knew Damon was only trying to make sure his family name and business doesn't wane down like how hers did in the past but still she couldn't help but feel lonely.
Susanne was really glad to see how her son became obstinate towards his father about not following what his father wanted him to be.
She admired his determination to follow his own dreams unlike her who couldn't do the same to her own parents.
But when she asked Dante what he wanted to become. Dante replied to her that he wanted to become an adventurer.
Suzanne collapsed after hearing this and should have landed on the floor if Alfred didn't use his quick thinking to teleport behind her to save her.
Suzanne had no choice but to be appalled by her son's outrageous choice of occupation because she wondered how an eight year old boy could brazenly declare his intention of joining the Adventurer academy which was similar to asking his mother to grant him permission into joining the army.
The Hallowed Stone Academy were in desperate need of more aspirants due to the high mortality rate of adventurers that occurred the previous year and so they provided application for children between the age of ten and above.
Dante tried his best to convince his mother into accepting but she refused to allow such a thing to happen.
And with Dante being eight years old at the time, he thought he still had time to train with Alfred before reaching the age of ten. Days past by and Suzanne caught glimpse of Dante's training session with Alfred and seeing how determined her son was, she couldn't help but feel touched by his spirit.
But deep down Suzanne was still feeling really sad about how her son would eventually become just like his older brother and sister if she doesn't support his dreams and wishes.
Suzanne then became really determined to not let the same mistake occur once again.
This time around she was going to really become close to her son and for her to do that, she called Dante to her room one night and informed him of her desire to accept his wishes of becoming an adventurer provided he comes to play with her every day after his training.
Suzanne did this because of his shyness towards everyone else and because of the way he rarely interact with anyone.
So for her, she wasn't going to lose the opportunity to become very close to her son.
She wasn't going to allow Damon to corrupt Dante just as he did with Darik and Deborah.
She would shower all the motherly love she had kept deep inside of her that was meant for all three children for her son alone.
She wanted her sad life in the Lustwood household to come to an end at least by feeling the bond a son should have with his mother.
Her marriage to Damon wasn't what she really wanted. She felt sad by this because she was married off to help her dad who had a huge debt with the Lustwood household.
And so to pay off his debt, Suzanne's Father sold his company to the Lustwood household.
But that wasn't enough to quench the taste of the household for they also desired his only daughter whose beauty alone was so divine and was capable of making even the most beautiful goddess very jealous.
Hence why Suzanne found herself currently among the Lustwood household.
Even though all what Suzanne wanted was for her son to become really close to her, she found redemption instead whenever she had free time with Dante.
Little chats became long discussions and before she knew it her son who initially never liked the idea of staying with her, also started talking more whenever they were having their mother and son session.
To her surprise, she had unwittingly informed Dante of the pain she felt being with someone she doesn't love, the sorrow she had felt being with someone that doesn't really see her as a woman but a means for producing his next money makers.
She explained in details the anguish that comes with the feeling of being useless to her family and not being able to speak up for herself. Suzanne explained all these with tears streaming down her face.
She couldn't help but wonder about the fact that maybe all she wanted was for someone to at least listen to her side of the story. And not for everyone to act as though she was a speck in this vast world of where partiality and greed reigned supreme.
An eight year old Dante at the time heard his mother sad life experience and shocked Suzanne by standing up from the chair he was on to give her a hug. He hugged her so tightly and promised to make her happy no matter what.
He made a promise to make sure she lives the rest of her life in utter bliss. Suzanne instinctively hugged him back and hearing his heartfelt words and feeling her clothes drenched by the tears he was desperately trying to conceal from her.
She was really touched by this and was really glad to have someone listen deeply to her story.
And as Suzanne felt this new found fondness towards her son, she swore to herself to never allow Damon to raise Dante as the money craved mutts he raised her two other children.
This prompt her into imploring Damon to at least allow her the privilege of raising and training Dante herself. This meant Damon was to make an oath to never stop him from achieving his dreams.
