Chapter 81 - Chapter Eighty One: Straight Sword

"What is he doing during class?"

Yui muttered to herself while peeking over her open study book. She was curiously watching a certain boy from her seat. The certain boy had hazel eyes and white bandages wrapped around his arms. The hazel eyed boy was in the process of stacking wooden blocks on his window seat desk top in the back of the classroom.

"…"

Silent Yui continued to watch the bandaged arm boy stack the wooden blocks in specific way and pattern. The hazel eyed boy only stopped stacking the wooden blocks when they reached his chest.

"Is he going to play by himself?"

Just after Yui lowly muttered her curious question from behind her open study book, the hazel eyed boy reached into his gum-free desk and removed a wooden oujia board from within it. He placed the wooden oujia board on his clean desk top before reaching back into his desk, and taking out a bottle of red and black ink.

"???"

Large question marks formed above Yui's head as she watched him drop droplets of red and black ink on the board before setting the bottles of ink aside.

'…Is he trying to play with a ghost?'

Yui thought in her mind before putting her study book away and scooting her wooden chair back. She didn't have to worry about blocking anyone behind her since she sat in the very back, and near the classroom door. After scooting her chair back, Yui noticed that the boy had begun speaking.

"…What is is he saying?"

Even though Yui could only see the boy mouth different words, she couldn't hear a word he was saying due to their desk distance in class. After the boy mouthed many words to seemingly no one, he suddenly started to play around with the board. After a few seconds of doing that, the hazel eyed boy took a block from the center of the already stacked set of wooden blocks, and placed it at the top of the stack. The boy crossed his bandaged arms over his chest and leaned back in his wooden chair…he seemed to be waiting for something to happen.

"…"

Yui silently watched in wait as well. However, she didn't need to wait long. From the very bottom of the set of blocks, a single wooden block was removed from the stack and placed at the top.

"…He really did it."

If Yui hadn't met a nice ghost like Oshizu, she may have passed out after seeing that parnormal display firsthand. And instead of picking her study book back up and ignoring the boy's actions, she continued to watch the match between Rian and a unknown ghost she couldn't see until the school bell suddenly rang in her ears.

[Ding!] [Ding!] [Ding!]

"Eh?"

Yui looked at the quickly departing students before checking her phone. Only after checking the time on her homescreen, did she realize that now was time to leave school.

"…How?"

Yui asked herself outloud. She felt as if the time suddenly accelerated when she was watching Rian play with the unknown ghost. She could have sworn only ten minutes of class time had passed before she started to watch the hazel eyed boy. And before she could properly gather her thoughts, the boy she was watching had suddenly jogged to the open classroom door with a red duffle bag on his shoulders.

"You all can follow me."

Rian said without turning his head before jogging out of the class…

[Chair Slide] [Chair Slide] [Chair Slide] [Chair Slide] [Chair Slide] [Chair Slide]

The moment after Rian had left his words behind and departed from the almost empty class, the sound of six sliding chairs suddenly sounded out. Risa, Run, Lala, Mio, Haruna, and Yui had moved at the same time. They looked at each other for a few moments before nodding and following behind Rian after getting their things. They didn't question why the other five remained in the already ended class, they believed that the other five girls were also interested in what their boyfriend was doing.

As the six high school girls jogged through the nearly empty halls of the school, they picked up Saki, Rin, Aya, Momo, Nana, and Mea as they moved. They all continued to follow after Rian. They left the school building and arrived at a park. Rian had suddenly stopped in the field of random park near the school, he looked left and right before calling out a name…

"Yami…"

Rian called out, the instant after he did…a girl with golden haired girl, black clothing, and a closed book in her hand appeared to his right.

Mea's eyes slightly widened after seeing Yami appear next to Rian on command. Despite seeing this, she didn't say anything. She simply stared at the golden haired girl for a few seconds before returning her gaze to the duffle bag carrying boy.

"Can you cut that tree down?"

Rian pointed at the wide, brown, and curly branch tree near them.

"…Ok."

Yami didn't question the boy. She blurred from his right and transformed her free hand into a weapon before chopping down the tree in a single swipe.

[Boom!]

The tree hit the ground after being cut down…

"Thank you."

Rian thanked Yami before running over to the tree…

"…Hmmmm, I think the oujia board spirit said it was here."

Rian said to himself before crouching down and knocking on the grass under the tree…

[Knock] [Knock]

"Yep, grass shouldn't make that sound."

Rian said before patting around the green grass.

'…Found it.'

Rian lifted the fake grass from around the real grass before throwing it away. Every girl that followed him, jogged over after seeing this. They peeked in the hole that was now able to be seen. Inside the hole rested a old, steel, and sliver colored straight sword. The straight sword had rusted chains and what seemed to be royal markings on it's handle.

"…"

Rian picked up the straight sword and touched the blade.

'It's dull.'

Rian thought to himself before putting the sword in his red duffle bag. After putting the straight sword away, he then proceeded to make a pillar of honor out of the chopped down tree with the help of every girl near him. He used the pillar of honor to help the oujia board spirit that helped him obtain a sword pass on in the honor they never recieved…
