If the sentinel ever views the dimensional path in the same way that Vandread does, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise. After all, the sentinel was still a former hero of Dizencia like him, therefore, it was still reasonable to assume that the sentinel favors the light over the dark.
Even if the sentinel had become corrupted by the shadows due to his insatiable desire for power, there was no denying the fact that no one would ever want to spend their entire life in the dark.
