Chapter 6
Alina did nothing but go with the people of the town who wanted to take her, she knew the grief of each of them who lost a child and loved one because of the curse given to her. Until now she still doesn't know where she got it and why her. She will just accept fate and that's it. Alina's eyes filled with tears as she thought of her family being left behind, the siblings, the mother and her father who didn't care about her but she still loved him.
Two old women help her sadly dress her in a black dress; Alina arranges a veil over her head. She noticed someone looking at her which she was wondering about.
"I'm sorry," she whispered as hse handed the black wedding flower to Alina.
"Why?"
"Because we did not respect you as the princess of Dawn, but we lost a child and as a princess you have to escape the town for the sake of our jurisdiction. I'm sorry and I hope you will forgive us," she said tremblingly then closed her veil to hide her face.
She didn't say anything, she still wanted to talk but if she did that he would be even more emotional. The two old men came out of that old hut first, she followed and when she came out there was a rope ready for her. She let go of what they wanted to do to her, tying her body as well as her hand with a thick rope so that she could no longer move or escape. Just enough for her to breathe.
One by one some retreated to give her way, until she saw the rift at the end; she did not think that they were on the high side of that mountain and woods. She is unable to step on her feet but they are waiting for her to do so.
'This is the end of you,' Alina whispered in her mind.
She had the strength to step but she was like a child starting to walk. Her knees were shaking as she approached there and the people there who had brought her were also starting to leave one by one. No one wants to see which death has chosen Alina.
It wasn't long before some of them left and Alina was left standing at the end of the ravine. She just closed her eyes because she didn't want to faint or see how high she would fall. She spent those hours wondering if her family had found Erald or if they were already looking for him. Before her mother knew, she must have been gone---she must have jumped.
She looked up at the sky which was beginning to darken and the pounding of her chest was getting weaker.
"It's up to you," then she finally threw herself into the ravine.
*
Alina gasped and found her lying on the cold black marble floor. 'Am I dead? Is this purgatory?' se asked her. She was holding the black flower in her right hand and she was still wearing the black wedding dress given to her by those who dressed her.
She was just shocked and woke up when the big wooden door opened in front of her so it shone in her place. Her eyes were watering as she looked inside the chapel-like appearance, she could see pure black from the chairs, the altar and the garments of the guests there.
One by one, the guests turned around but to Alina's great surprise, their faces were covered with black cloth. The more her chest throbbed; she didn't know what she should do. She slowly turned in front of the altar, there was a figure there turning in her direction wearing a black and oversized cloak.
Alive lit black candles around and started raining black petals of flowers inside.
She wonders why she doesn't feel anything else especially fear, her chest is pounding but she doesn't feel any fear. Someone was urging her to walk as if her feet had a life of their own, she was able to get inside and she could still feel the gaze of the guests on her until she reached the altar.
Then the cloaked figure appeared but she was surprised that she could see no face but only darkness inside his hood. The person in front of her pulled out one of her hands, which was even paler than her, but she noticed the length of his finger and the man's sinewy hand as if he had gone through a lot of work.
She didn't know what it meant so she just gave her right hand, she would have moved it away when it caught his hand and was slightly surprised when she felt the coldness of its palm.
'They say it's scary but why is his skin and hands so mortal-'
She couldn't continue what she was going to say when their hands shone together as they held each other. She just looked at their hands when it disappear she only saw the ring made of white crystal and then it just released him.
"This will be the sign of our marriage."
Alina's eyes widened and then turned to the dark face in front of her. Its voice is normal, not scary but very serious and authoritative.
"This ring will be dirty when you don't follow my wishes and will make me angry. It will turn black when your sins increase and may cause you to die… "
"What?"
"This marriage will lose its validity when I refuse and when you will die," added the man in a cloak in front of her.
She noticed that the man had a black ring that was similar to hers. He took her hand and kissed the finger she was wearing with the ring.
She didn't know that this was where her adventure would begin. She just felt weak and even before she lost consciousness she was caught by the stranger man who married her.
