Chapter 31 - Garden [2]

[ Level 7 Reached ! ]

A system message notified Leo about his achievement. Looking around Leo saw a lot of trees and other plants around him destroyed. He didn't want to create ruckus that could attract guards, but the snake's attack destroyed everything nearby.

Leo felt that the snake's defense was way weaker than the cobra's, but the skeletal snake's attack power was leaps and bounds above the cobra's. Looking around Leo thought of ways to hide the snake's body. Suddenly an idea came to Leo's mind. Going closer to the snake Leo touched its corpse and tried to put the skeleton into his inventory.

Whoosh...

A huge body of an undead snake disappeared seemingly into the thin air. Of course the watch's inventory can't store everything, it has limited space. Its inventory has a large space, because the Sword Academy is the second best in humanity's domain. The academy receives direct support from the Emperor which includes watches made by strong Space Element Users.

Looking at his watch Leo noticed that one third of its space was occupied by the humongous snake's skeleton. Grumbling about the small space Leo started contemplating if he could sell the skeleton in the Astrum Base or Academy.

" Talking about the Astrum base, wouldn't it be better to notify them about this cave ? "

Leo started voicing his thoughts out loud. Interacting with the watch Leo searched for a function to communicate with the Base. When he was just teleported to North America, one of the personnel named Colin gave Leo the Base's encrypted code which one could use to send a message.

After typing a short message Leo once again took out the snake's body and took a photo.

_______________

Hello,

I've accidently discovered a cave full of undead :)

I think that a vampiric beast might be residing in the cave

Here's a picture of one of the undead creatures:

Rereading the message's contents Leo made sure that he typed the correct coordinates and sent it before turning off the watch. He put the snake's skeleton back to the Inventory. Leo wanted to remove one of the fangs from its mouth, but in case the snake's skeleton would be expensive outside he didn't want to damage it.

Turning off the watch Leo opened his System Status window.

Thinking about where to put the additional points Leo thought that saving them for later might be a better choice in case he's in a critical situation.

Crack...

A twig nearby broke. Quickly shifting his body towards the sound Leo held his sword with both hands and started scanning the area around himself.

Minute passed, Two minutes passed, another 5 minutes passed. Nothing. No one came out of the garden. As far as Leo knows Skeletal creatures attack everything that's alive. A bit confused Leo started slowly moving towards where the twig was broken. He heightened his senses and clenched his sword.

Taking a step into the cover Leo saw... Nothing? There was literally no one in the area. Taking glances at the bushes around Leo noticed not a single soul. His heightened senses found nothing. Throwing a last glance at the surroundings Leo turned around and left the area.

Meanwhile a pale skinned human came out of the bushes with his lips curled down. Two yellow eyes were shining in the dark giving him a spooky look.

" Disappointing! "

He almost spat out before disappearing into the shadows while quietly mumbling under his nose.

" I'll wait for you in the castle "

Leo, who had no idea of a creature lurking in the darkness, continued his journey through the garden. He was attacked by another poisonous flower, but quickly killed it with a one sword swing.

Venturing deeper into the garden Leo senses detected something behind him. Without even looking Leo shifted his body while slashing his sword horizontally.

Crack...

A sound of branches being broken echoed in the area. Jumping forward Leo distanced himself from the unseen enemy and turned around. A huge seemingly harmless grey tree was extending its black branches towards Leo. The sword slash broke some of them, but before Leo's eyes they started regenerating.

" What the hell is this ! "

Leo exclaimed while evading some of the branches that were nearing him. He noticed that the tree itself couldn't move, but it could extend its branches. Going back and forth he noticed that the range of the tree is around 20 meters.

Standing near the attack range of the tree Leo thought about how to kill this enemy. He tried to reach its trunk, but the closer he got to the tree the more branches were blocking his path making him retreat.

Suddenly the previously calm facial expression of Leo turned into a wide smile. Leo accessed his inventory and took out some matches. Lighting one of them up illuminated the nearby area revealing Leo's wide grin.

Dashing towards the tree Leo was greeted by a dozen branches launched at his body. Enhancing his legs Leo jumped high into the air successfully evading all the attacks. The match he was holding was thrown down on the tree's branches and trunk immediately lighting them on fire. Landing on the ground Leo turned around and swung his sword as fast he could trying to deflect all the attacks.

The tree was in agony. It hasn't felt pain in its entire lifetime. Its regeneration couldn't keep up with the fire. While hissing in agony it saw the reason for its demise smiling at him widely. The grey tree entered a frenzy state throwing every single branch at Leo. It didn't care about the fire anymore, its only goal was to kill Leo.

Defending against dozens of branches Leo couldn't cover his whole body, focusing on protecting his vitals. One branch pierced through his palm, but he quickly pulled it out and deflected the other attack aimed at his heart. Some of the branches missed Leo and he ignored them. Big mistake ! The branches suddenly curved around and pierced Leo's back. Stumbling forward in pain from the attack, Leo's neck was almost pierced, but he lowered his body evading the branch by a hair's breadth.

Using his sword Leo stabbed it into the ground and used it as a platform to kick himself away from the tree's range leaving the burning tree alone. After escaping from the tree's onslaught Leo's body was full of bruises and minor wounds. Circulating Mana he started healing while the tree was hissing in pain and slowly turning into charcoal.
