Adeline POV
I kept checking over my shoulder as I made my way across campus to Galahad’s Cafe. I kept expecting to see Fiona and her gang trailing me even though I knew they had been expelled and were not allowed to set foot on campus grounds.
The fear stuck with me though, the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end every time I caught the scent of someone walking nearby.
“Get a grip, Adeline!” I muttered and gave my cheek a slight pinch.
Fiona had never scared me, not even while she and her goons had been kicking the living daylights out of me, and yet now I felt more like a jumpy rabbit than a wolf.
While glancing back one last time I couldn’t see in front of me and collided straight into another student.
Pain rang through my head as books and notes went scattering across the ground. Both the girl and I went crashing to the ground as well.
“I am so sorry!” she exclaimed as she rubbed her head. It seemed our heads had collided with one another.
