Fiona, my eldest, my most talented, expelled and sent away to Europe. For what? For showing a filthy rogue her place in the world. My sister had gone insane to allow such trash to infiltrate her family and ensnare Zale. My nephew had all but called for my daughter’s exile.
I could hear the mutters and whispers of slander from the Yi Elders and family members whenever I passed them by. They would comment on what a useless daughter I had raised, how my husband should have married my sister instead of me.
Luckily the moon goddess had presented me with an opportunity to get my revenge: Leona. That poor girl was so desperate to become my nephew’s mate that she would agree to anything I suggested. She wanted him and I wanted Adeline without their patronage so I could get rid of her myself.
