Chapter 3 - Page 3

You chose: Tell her to not worry about it. You must've gone crazy for not eating lunch.

As I look at her, deciding what to do, I watch as her eyes seem to be mistrusting. I shake my head, slumping my shoulders. "Never mind. Don't worry about it." Knowing my sister, she's always on the logical side. If she didn't believe me, then the worst she could do is tell everyone about it and tease me for a long time.

"Huh?" She looked shocked to my words.

"Yeah. I must be crazy for not eating lunch." I laugh, holding my stomach to show affect. "You know how I get when I don't eat."

We both laugh, walking to the door. "Of course, I do! You get super crazy. That, or you just pulled a prank on me." She lightly smacks my shoulder.

I giggle while opening the door. "Maybe!"

"That's it! You're gonna get it!" I run through the hallways as she chases me. The empty house being filled with laughter and kids running around. Time seemed to have passed quickly when not paying attention to it.

"Girls!" We stop when we hear our dad's voice. "It's time for dinner!"

"Coming!" We say together, running back down the stairs.

We sit at the table, our food being set in front of us. Burgers smooshed between buns with a side of chips. We start to eat in silence. "So, anything interesting happen today?" Dad asks. The one question he asks almost every time we eat dinner.

"Oh!" Katrina jumps in. "You'll never believe it! Sarah pranked me today!"

"What did she do this time?" Uncle John laughs.

"She really scared me. Said that she saw dad out at the shed, while I was in here talking to him." She giggles. "Isn't that crazy?"

As we all laughed, I couldn't help but notice Uncle John and dad giving each other weird glances. Now that I think about it, I can't get dad from the shed out of my head. His creepy and unusual smile while he held the axe. Saying that he went through the window to scare me. Sure, he could fit through the window, but dad always complains of getting old and not being able to do things that he used to.

Is what I saw...real?

You decided to keep the scary news to yourself. Will you do this alone?
