"Yes, that's crucial," I wholeheartedly agreed with Karina.
So far, Karina hadn't mentioned detecting any scent of drugs on anyone else, which indicates it wasn't picked up through ingredients. Besides, she's the one handling the ingredients, so she shouldn't carry a scent distinct from food too often. That left only one possibility.
"So Leah must have been hidden by her, either at home, or somewhere in this estate. Considering how thorough she is with investigating the uses of several kitchens, she couldn't have fled far immediately after the arson." I continued.
"So what's our next move..." Anton trailed off, his gaze fixed on me.
I probably already had a clear plan in mind by then, knowing exactly how to proceed. "We follow the middle-aged she-wolf."
With the plan settled, that afternoon, Anton and I changed into clothes we never wore on ordinary days, quietly trailing behind the middle-aged she-wolf after work.
