[Ellie's P.O.V]
That evening, Ollie brought back a contact number. We dialed it using a phone card that had never been used before. If we could get through, we might find a way to meet Brian. If not, it would mean the other party was already apprehensive and didn't want to be found.
As expected, it was likely the latter case.
"I'm sorry, the number you have dialed is not in service…"
Before the mechanical female voice on the phone could finish, Anton, visibly irritated, had Ollie hang up. As I had anticipated, Jacob's people had no intention of being found.
It was becoming more and more like Panse's style of operation. Hadn't Panse done something similar when he threatened Kaz?
