Hearing their words, a wry smile tugged at my lips. So it was Xavier who spilled the beans about our adventures in the human realm. I took the opportunity to scan the room, but Xavier was nowhere to be seen. Had he finished talking and gone to sleep, only to wake up now?
What else could I say at this point? The events had already unfolded, and blaming anyone wouldn't change that fact. But I couldn't help but feel guilty for how I had acted earlier. Thankfully, Ollie didn't know about it yet, and I still had a chance to make amends.
I gently patted my mother's back, my voice soft as I smiled and said, "Mother, we had enough people with us, and those we encountered in the human realm were no match for our professionally trained companions."
