I couldn't care less about Leah's reaction to those words because she had left a bad impression on me. Count Andrew was furious at Leah's betrayal of the family, and in the eyes of others, it wasn't hard to see why.
Back at the hotel, we conducted our routine room check. We had to be cautious regarding the Jacob Gang. Over the past month since our arrival in the human realm, the number of people searching for Count Andrew and his son had only increased. Our team was beginning to spread thin.
Nearly a third of our time here had already passed quietly, but it felt like we had already covered more than half of our mission.
I had hoped that my parting words to Leah might at least stir some regret in her heart, but I was wrong. Perhaps I shouldn't have held any hope at all.
