They all rolled up their sleeves, revealing their arms covered with various scars of different sizes, some of which had even turned into scars.

I suddenly felt that my previous question had been too presumptuous. Surprised and apologetic, I said, "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to pry into your personal matters."

The ladies, in unison, lowered their sleeves and adjusted their sitting positions, as if nothing had happened.

The lady in the middle then spoke, her tone cold, "It's fine, as long as you don't spread this information. Our indifference towards our husbands' deaths is why we're being so distant. So, if you want to ask about any unusual behavior before their deaths, I can only say that we couldn't care less. These men spent their days sleeping during the day, gambling at night, and occasionally hitting us. That's about it."
