[Ellie's P.O.V]
"There's no need to be surprised. I postponed other visits today to welcome you," Count Andrew, guessing our thoughts, said with a smile. "Besides, it's even more important not to neglect those who have saved a life."
"Jacob's gang wouldn't dare come in even if the door was guarded. Sir and Madam, rest assured," Xavier confidently added. "As long as I don't step outside this door, they won't know I'm home."
Their consecutive remarks seemed to address our internal doubts and concerns. It turned out they were indeed waiting for us, but with a line of bodyguards? Were they for our sake?
However, I quickly dismissed this thought. Anton and I hadn't done anything to them; even if they suspected us of having ulterior motives, it was unlikely they'd act on it.
Anton glanced at the bodyguards behind Count Andrew and Xavier, commenting meaningfully, "Even at home, one must stay vigilant for safety."
