I watched them in amazement the entire way, finding it difficult to imagine that it was so quiet during the day, and yet the evenings were so lively. Could it be, as Anton suggested, that people here sleep during the day and become active at night?
"Excuse me, sir. We're just passing through this place and found it intriguing. We'd like to ask you a question," I was just about to speak, but Kirk had already struck up a conversation with someone. "Why is it that during the day, there are hardly any people around, but it's so lively at night?"
He was addressing an older man, and the old man responded with a smile, "That's how we've always been. Don't tell me you expect us to come out during the day? Young man, your question is quite peculiar."
