[Joseph's P.O.V]
Amanda seemed to have recovered, although her illness had come and gone in a strange manner. But I didn't dare to let my guard down. She often encouraged me, saying, "Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I believe in you." I knew she didn't want me to become obsessed.
The new child next door provided me with an additional source of motivation with his innocent "I believe in you." So, I persevered for another two years.
In those two years, it seemed that the little boy next door had taken a liking to Amanda. I could see love and affection in her eyes when she looked at him. Perhaps she longed to have a child as adorable as him.
I didn't mind. When the little boy clung to me, I played with him and, with Amanda's help, turned chemistry experiments into magic tricks for his amusement.
