Once there was enough blood in the bowl, I pulled the dagger out, put it away, and simply bandaged myself before proceeding to nourish the ingredient.
I couldn't get over how much it looked like a piece of dead wood that I started to doubt if it could really save Ellie's life. But the wizard had essentially died to bring it to me. I had no right or time to question it.
I dipped my finger in the bowl of my blood and smeared it on the ingredient. Miraculously, the blood disappeared in an instant.
Was this supposed to happen? Still pleasantly surprised, I continued to wipe the blood on the piece of wood.
The blood continued to disappear into the wood, and after the bowl had been emptied, the piece of wood started to glow green.
