"So... Father, Mother, why don't you just stay here until after the Christmas party?" I was finally able to relax a little more as I suggested to them. "Consider this a work trip. There is nothing our hotel lacks, so just let me know if you need anything."
"Don't jump the gun. I haven't even decided whether you can come back or not, and you're already trying to curry favor with me?" Father turned to me as he spoke.
"Darren, what are you saying?" Mother nudged Father with her arm.
"Come on, don't be so stubborn, Father. You've been mentioning Sister's name for the past few years. I'm getting calluses in my ears from listening to you!" Yili was bold to act so cheekily.
And Father must have changed a lot in the past few years. Before, he would have never allowed Yili to behave like that. And now, it was the first time since I last saw them that he was not scolding her for it.
