Would things really turn out well? I wasn't sure if Father would want to see me or not. Did he ever send someone to at least check on me over the past few years? Anton's encouragement made me feel better. I nodded and said, "Okay."
I would only know the truth once they were here, so I had to take the gamble.
The day I'd been waiting for finally arrived. Anton left early in the morning while I sat in my office, unable to focus on my documents. My mind was filled with thoughts of how to face my parents later. Sometimes, I would even throw my pen aside when I got impatient.
Then, I heard the muffled voices of people outside. Father had been very angry with Anton's behavior on the news a while ago. He must still feel that way since his steps sounded heavy. Along the way, he questioned Anton why he did that. But Anton was not angry. He said again and again that he would wait for the two elders to go to the room to speak properly.
