I turned on the speaker and there was a moment of silence before a cold voice came through. "I'm very busy today, so make it short."
I could see that she didn't intend to admit what she had just done, and she was still very repulsed by me, but there was still some time before the Alpha Conference so I could take it slow. I looked at Hart and said, "The next time you damage my brother's car, you should check the camera. I can recognize it at a glance."
There was another period of silence on the other end as I heard a very light breathing sound. I thought she was simply thinking about how to respond to my words. Should she deny or admit it? There was a high probability that it was the first option.
But I was wrong. Without a trace of sincerity, she said, "Alright, I'm sorry, but you're a real b*stard. I thought it was yours. Also, thank you for your reminder. I'll be more careful next time."
