[Ellie's P.O.V.]
Rowling started her act and I admired her skills.
As expected, there was a look of surprise in Doug's eyes when he heard the first half of the story. However, his expression changed when he heard the second half. Uneasiness, fear, and panic flashed across his face.
I thought to myself that the fish had taken the bait, and all it took was a single sentence from Rowling. She hadn't even said what it was exactly and he had already given himself away.
However, this show had to be played out in full.
"Are you sure it's a necklace?" I was 'surprised' again. "Just now, Mr. Doug had said he lost an expensive pearl necklace. Could we be talking about the same necklace?"
Doug looked bitter as he said incoherently, "How is that possible? My necklace has always been in my room. I've never touched it, so how did it end up in the sewer?"
