[Ellie's P.O.V.]
But even if I knew that there was such a person, it would still be difficult to find him since he was essentially unknown to me. I was hoping David would know who that person was, but now that there were no other clues, I felt a little discouraged. After a few days of ignoring the fatigue that accumulated from following through with this investigation, I was gradually approaching the truth. And yet, another problem cropped up.
Both Kirk and David believed that John wouldn't kill anyone, but he was the only one whose fingerprint matched with the one we found on the kettle.
That was why I was still very suspicious of John. After all, he had the motive to kill. Even though Kirk and David had met and knew John, I hadn't.
But I didn't reveal my lingering suspicions to either Kirk or David. I was going to continue investigating this trail myself.
