"What… is this?"

The time was 20 years ago --- when the entire world ended and another replaced its place. And while chaos currently blanketed the streets, Nathalie was inside her apartment, being bombarded by floating words that appeared in front of her as she woke up from her stupor.

She had just finished ingesting all the knowledge from the [Tome of Mage]. It was weird, she didn't really have to read it — she just stared at it, and it was as if the knowledge just started to flow through her mind.

And now, the so-called System was orienting her on the things she needed to know to move forward.

"Open… Status Window?"

[Nathalie Baker, Level 1. Class: Mage

Strength: 5

Vitality: 4

Stamina: 7

Agility: 3

Mana: 10

Remaining Status Points: 10]

Nathalie almost jumped from her seat as another window popped up in front of her. But after a few seconds, she tried to calm herself down and used her entire attention to focus and read everything — after all, her son told her that it was important for her to do so.

However, as soon as the thought of her son entered her mind, she completely disregarded all the words in front of her as she stood up,

"...Zac?" She quickly scanned the entire room, "I finished reading the book you gave me. It's… quite interesting."

"..."

"Zac?" Her eyes started to blink as she could really only see a faint darkness surrounding the apartment. She quickly ran to Zac's room, only to find the tattered mannequins there that Zac used to train himself.

"..." Nathalie's eyebrows began to furrow as she once again searched her tiny apartment, before walking to the window… and only seeing nothing but chaos on the horizon.

"Oh… my god," Nathalie could really only cover her mouth as she saw buildings burning; the streets, filled with people that were running… and being chased by some sort of… animal.

Nathalie had always wondered why Zac started training and why he became weird — did… he predict that something like this was going to happen? Then why?

He did tell her that from today forward, the world will become violent.

"..." Nathalie stared at this view for a few more seconds, before nodding to herself and closing the curtains. She doesn't know why Zac knew these things… but she knew what she had to do.

"Add… all remaining Status Points to Mana?" Nathalie then muttered, and as soon as she did so, she felt a warm feeling suddenly crawling throughout her entire body.

She might not look like it now… but she owned gaming consoles before she gave birth to Zac and played a couple of RPGs of her own. Plash Speed 1 and 2, SAGA, Ninpendo, Gamesphere, Apari — she owned them all.

One might even say… she was slightly excited staring at her Status Window.

She then ran towards her closet and scoured for something she could wear, only to settle on a motorcycle leather jacket she used to wear. Sadly, she needed to sell her bike in favor of a car for Zac — she didn't complain, however… as Zac was worth any sacrifice.

"It's… a little tight," a small moan then whispered in the air as Nathalie tried zipping up her jacket. Ever since having Zac… she had grown in all sorts of places — particularly her breasts. The jiggled and bounced as she forced the zipper to go up… but finally, after a few more tries, she was able to take in a deep breath as the jacket closed.

She then once again returned to the window, opening it and stretching her hand to the outside before muttering, "Flames?" with a small smile on her face.

"..." But alas, nothing happened.

"..."

"..."

"Flames!" And as Nathalie raised her voice, a ball of fire suddenly hovered in front of her palm. She then slightly waved her hand, causing the ball of fire to shoot forward into the air… before fading away after a certain distance.

"Hm," once again, Nathalie nodded to herself in satisfaction as the smile on her face grew even wider. She then quickly ran towards her desk; getting a pen and paper and leaving a note on the fridge that says,

'Mommy will be back.'

One could say she was truly filled with excitement — even almost to the point that she wanted to squeal. She never really allowed herself to have fun anymore… and she was going to cherish this chance — she knew of the dangers, but she also knew that she could help people.

And so, with a bright smile on her face, she stepped out to venture into the new world — leaving her apartment alone and only surrounded by the light that peered from the outside.

"..."

"..."

And soon, that light dimmed. The door, opening as Nathalie came back… her steps, leaving blood on the floor.

"..." Her eyes which were previously filled with excitement, now as red as her face which was covered in blood. There were clear lines trailing on her cheeks, obviously from the tears she had shed while she was outside.

"..."

"..." Nathalie was about to take another step inside the house, but as soon as she saw the blood she was leaving on the floor… her breaths instantly became stuttered — tears, once again trailing on her face.

Her entire body started to shiver as her sight became blurry. She probably stayed like there for an entire minute, before finally letting out a deep breath and wiping her tears.

"Z… Zac, are you here?"

She tried her best not to stutter as she once again looked around her apartment. But once again, no one responded to her — the only thing she could really do was place that plastic bag she was holding on the table.

She quickly took off her leather jacket — her breasts, almost popping out from her shirt as she did so… and slightly causing blood to putter in the air as her shirt was also covered with it, along with her sweat.

"..." She immediately soaked it in a tub of water and detergent, not even minding as the water instantly turned red as she just casually walked to the bathroom — not even taking off her underwear as she entered the shower and turned it on.

"Huk…" And as soon as the cold water touched her skin, Nathalie immediately fell to the reddening floor… and screamed; her wails, almost cracking as she did so.

And soon, the blood covering her started to fade away from her skin — revealing no scars or wounds plastering her body. How could there be, when the blood is not hers in the first place?

No. She doesn't know where it's from — whether it's from the feral beasts… or the children she had failed to save.

She was a fool. This isn't some game…

…it was hell.
