Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Bright Lights Bring Big Checks

The Foremes Modeling Agency Building, Grand Street, Southport, New Jersey.....

The sleek black two-seater sports car pulled into the parking lot of an enormous fancy tower building made of neat glass and strong steel, that housed a lot of talented people at the Foremes Modeling Agency. Ron Hemming was one of their most sought-after break-out stars ever since he strolled onto the scene and caught the eyes of the executives and the board of directors respectively. He was virtually an unknown and a fresh new face that had been much needed as the company wasn't doing as well as it had in its heyday before the new arrival made himself known. Initially, he had not come looking for a job but for a woman. She happened to work for the company and they like his rugged bad boy charm it seemed despite Ron not in the least being fond of them fawning all over him. He wasn't much of a people person but if rich people can promise money, food, booze, and women there wasn't much of a reason for him to decline.

The woman who had caught his eye was now his associate and booking manager Heather Graves and she was very good at her job. What first appealed to him about her was her long blonde locks and deep blue eyes that reminded him of a clear sky on a sunny day. Heather was much older than him by all accounts, but he remained interested despite her not wishing to indulge him at the time.

He single-handedly saved the company and at one of the celebratory parties to commend his joining their ranks, Ron had finally gotten what he wanted in the back room of the stage far from the prying eyes of the many bosses and models alike after they both ingested one too many rounds of drinks to celebrate as it were. Ron wasn't much for relationships and Heather wasn't interested in anything aside from that one night. They developed an understanding and had been quite casual in their association as a result of it. Of course, Ron being who he was and the women that came to throw themselves at his feet made sure nothing further could progress even if she wanted it to.

Presently, Ron remained a handful occasionally exchanging witty banter and sexual teasing with her whenever they were together and business had to be conducted. The bosses more or less turned to Heather when they needed Ron to either behave or do a project that they knew he'd reject due to the already hectic schedule they had him under. There were times when Ron was unavailable of course usually about the time the moon was full and he'd been off chasing whatever skirt that caught his fancy.

"Morning Heather," said Ron as he walked into the building and up to the front desk where Heather Graves was currently stationed. "Lovely weather we're having today isn't it?"

"Nice to see you on time Ronnie." replied the older woman with a pleasant smile. "Richard is expecting you in room three and Carol has to get you ready for the shoot at one in the afternoon."

"Of course," he said making his way to see Richard before stopping in to see Carol and get ready for the latest photo shoot.

Heather turned her attention back to her own duties and began answering phones and booking appointments just as she had before Ron's arrival.

RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Room Three, The Foremes Modeling Agency Building, Grand Street, Southport, New Jersey.....

Richard Leavey stood in an impressive-looking black Armani suit as he awaited the arrival of his biggest star male model. He had high hopes for the future and it was all due to Ron Hemming coming into their lives when they needed something akin to a second chance the most. No one knew much about Ron aside from the fact that he was fascinated by the receptionist Heather Graves and he didn't really volunteer much information about himself over the passing months of their association either.

From the look of him, Richard gathered that he'd been in or around his mid to late twenties and wasn't much for social interaction as he tended to be quite aggressive and cagey whenever he had been in one of his foul moods. Everyone learned to leave him to his business when that was the case and hopefully book events around it. They had gotten quite good at gauging his moods and booking the events respectively. Richard himself was a middle-aged man of fifty-five and not as flamboyantly homosexual as most men in his line of work might have been, but he knew the business and he knew beauty when he saw it so this position as coordination director for the agency was the perfect fit for him.

He had no family, well no family he cared to associate with due to his lifestyle no matter how private he'd been about it. He took a liking to Ron much as everyone else had when they came into contact with him. Ron didn't seem to care about the attention as he was always chasing after the next skirt or round of booze much of the time. He came into the office, got his shoots done, and headed out to the clubs and bars before the day was done only to do it all over again the next morning as if he had not a care in the world.

Richard sighed looking out the window as a knock signaled the arrival of Ron Hemming who had entered swiftly. He sat down at the end of the long black table designed for board meetings and so forth to show a sense of unity and corporate strength when they needed it. Ron sat back in one of the spinning office chairs and looked over at Richard across the table who was barely turning away from his view of the window.

"I'm glad you could make it Ron," he said in his usual corporate tone of voice. "There are some new projects that have just been brought to my attention and as you know due to your important status here you have prime picking before I hand them off to someone else."

Richard drew Ron's attention to the three black folders on the table before him and he allowed him to look over each and everyone's contents before making his decision and returning them to Richard himself.

Ron took a moment to sift through whatever random projects the company was attempting to throw his way these days. While he appreciated the perks and the money he was growing annoyed with the constant invasion of his privacy and the assumption that he liked having his picture taken in the worst possible moments when all he wanted to do was get drunk and have a lay-in with whatever loose skirt he managed to convince to allow him to accompany her.

Of the three projects, the modeling campaign for a deodorant seemed to be the most appealing as opposed to modeling cologne and boxer briefs. He had done plenty of those and was looking to do something else, besides whenever he modeled boxer briefs it was difficult to focus on his work when he'd been given a long-lasting erection and in a foul mood because none of the attendees would be willing to take him on for fear of him possibly causing irreparable damage to them in the long run.

As for the cologne, there were plenty of the products that smelled horrible to him and with his sensitive sense of smell, he'd spend more than half the night washing the stuff off him than tending to his own business after hours due to the vulgarity of the odor. Deodorants were a definite safe bet for the time being as he'd only have to be shirtless and pretend to put on the possibly awful product when the time came.

Ron selected the project and passed the other folders back to Richard for him to give off to some other poor schmuck to deal with. He was well beyond accepting any and every project at this point in his career and didn't envy the men at the bottom of the totem pole trying to climb their way up. His own rise to fame was quite meteoric due to skills far beyond the reach of the men that were his lesser. He alone had been privy to the natural aspects of his talent while everyone else simply rallied around him stricken via awe and wonder.

"If there is nothing else," said Ron taking a look at the clock on the wall across the room from where he sat.

"Oh...that will be all Ron, thank you," said Richard looking up from the folders as he puzzled over the newest project to give the green light to.

Ron took his leave of Richard and headed toward the dressing room where he was to meet with the stylist Carol before his big photo shoot with well-known modeling colleague Talia Summers.
