I watch their faces for any trace of humour, but none of them burst into laughter. None of them crack a smile. So I do it for them. I laugh so long and so loud that everyone in the restaurant stares, I can feel their annoyed glance on me. The thing was so funny that I'm clutching my stomach as I laugh.
"Ma'am? Excuse me? The other customers are complaining about the noise, if you could keep it down." A waitress tells me, her face looked very uncomfortable. I sober up real quick.
"I am so sorry."
She nods before scurrying away.
"Maybe I should have told her the joke, then she would understand why I was laughing so hard." I say offhandedly.
"We are being serious." Abby sounds like she doesn't even believe what she was saying herself.
