Dymas gasped as I made a sword with a silver hilt and a sapphire on the bottom appear in his hand. "Seriously? You want to, train with me?" I drew my sword and nodded. "I know it doesn't mean much now, but I'd like to catch up on some brother bonding if you're up for it." Dymas smiled and returned my nod.
We then started to spar and I taught him some essential moves. As we fought I could tell that Dymas was still comprehending that I wasn't the same person he grew up with. "I find it hard to believe that you changed so quickly." I laughed. "You only say that because you weren't there. It took forever for me to realize that there are more important things than a crown. It finally clicked when I thought I lost May."
Dymas and I continued to fight as we had a conversation, merrily. "You're doing the right thing by marrying that one. If she had the power to set someone like you straight, I'm sure she will make a great queen." I thought about May and how lucky I was that she latched herself to me like a barnacle and wouldn't scrape off no matter how hard I tried. "I'm sure she will."
I then noticed a pair of yellow fairy wings peeking over the brick wall behind Dymas. I stopped sparring and spoke over to them. "Hey Alester! Want to join us?" Alester appeared from behind the wall and rested his folded arms on top of it. "I'm good." I then made armor and a sword appear on his person, and he jumped at the sudden change. "Ah!" I chuckled and gestured for him to come over to us. "Come on. Spar with your brothers. It'll be fun."
Alester flew over the wall and walked toward us with annoyance on his face. "This better not be lame." Dymas rested a hand on his hip. "It's never boring with Dedrin." I then raised my hand and made illusions of sharks swimming through the air appear around us. Alester gasped and I made the first illusion disappear by cutting it through with my sword. "Us versus sharks. Hurry before they attack the village!"
Alester and Dymas laughed as we ran around, defeating the enemy and making a memory that would last a lifetime. After that day my brothers and I became closer and it was just the beginning. After only a couple weeks the kingdom had successfully become a part of the forests, and many other species came to live in Reinthoria and expand the kingdom. There were still problems of course, but with Saniel and Razerous in charge of peacemaking, crime was nearly nonexistent.
I helped Dymas and Alexra build a small castle on a beach near our kingdom so Alexra could live out her dream and they would be close to home. My parents also wanted to retire in a place of their own, but they chose to live among the people of Reinthoria and help the community directly, unlike how they ruled before.
After a few months, May arranged our wedding for the whole kingdom to attend. I originally planned on having the servants in the castle plan the festivities, but May insisted on being in charge of everything. I asked if she wanted me to help using my magic but she still refused. I wondered how she would handle it since she was planning a gathering too big to comprehend in such a short time.
Surprisingly, once the day arrived it was even grander than I expected. The whole kingdom was decorated with white roses and vines of flowers hung across every street in a ceiling of petals. Everyone had a place to sit outside where the ceremony would take place. More flowers decorated the trees and the altar was sculpted from white marble. A white carpet lined the grass in the center of the crowd who were all wearing white. Petals and sparkles flew through the sky and the whole event looked like it came out of a storybook.
I felt like I stood out from the white aesthetic by wearing black silk robes with silver accents and sandals, but it was what May picked out for me to wear. I also wondered why everyone here was wearing white. 'I thought only the bride was supposed to wear white.' I thought. I approached the altar as centaurs played harps and flutes to the side of the gathering. I couldn't believe that one woman accomplished all this with no magic at all. My brothers as well as Razerous and Saniel were waiting for me at the altar and they were dressed in robes also, although, theirs were white like the crowd.
"By the look on your face, I can tell that CherryMay didn't include you in any of the planning," Dymas said as he crossed his arms. I shrugged as I stepped onto the platform of marble they were standing on. "She wanted to surprise me, and I'd color me impressed." I continued to look around, astonished by the attention to detail. "Damn, that woman must love me."
Suddenly, the music began to play a different tune and the crowd stood up from their seats. I turned to the white carpet and nearly exploded when I saw May walking toward the altar at the end of it. The dress she wore was made out of a large light pink flower that touched the floor as she walked. The many petals of the ballgown wrinkled beautifully, and the top was sleeveless and tight. Her bouquet was filled with pink roses and more decorated her hair.
All of her hair was curled and pinned at different lengths, and they held a pink lace net to the back of her head under her pink veil. Light pink pearls decorated her hair as well, and her wings were draped behind her as she walked. Alexra carried her veil behind her as her father walked at her side, and her beauty killed me so much that I forgot how to breathe. 'So, that's why everyone's wearing white.' After a few more steps May made her way onto the platform and she was even more beautiful up close. Alexra let her veil drape around May and went to stand on the other side of the altar. Her father then kissed her hand and left to be seated.
May smiled at my speechlessness. "Do you like it?" I remembered how to breathe again but my eyes were still wide as I spoke to her. "Are you kidding? You are more beautiful than I thought was possible. This is amazing, how did you do this?" May laughed nervously. "I haven't slept in three days." I shook my head. "You always have to take it to the extreme, don't you?" May looked to the crowd who had seated themselves. "I got a little carried away, didn't I? This is what I always dreamed my wedding would be like since I was a little girl."
I placed a hand on her cheek and she looked up at me. "That's what I love about you." May blushed. "Save it for the vows will you?" I laughed and lifted her veil over her head. The parson then opened his book and began to speak as the music softened. He was speaking but I couldn't hear him over May's beauty. Before I knew it I was placing a wedding ring on her finger and she was doing the same to me. We said our vows and we both said I do without hesitation, and I was overjoyed to finally kiss my wife.
