Chapter 50 - Chapter 50: Lily

I waited for a moment and breathed heavily as I looked down at the red that was pooling under the rubble. I then looked up at the light above me and jumped up. I grabbed onto some rocks and pulled myself back into the ravine. When I climbed far enough, I took my sword from where I left it stuck in the soil and used it to climb back to the top.

Thankfully, I didn't fall again and I pulled myself over the ledge with exhaustion. I sat down and my eyes fell on Saniel who was waiting patiently and not paying attention. I sheathed my sword and remembered that I had stuffed May into the pot once I heard a muffled sound coming from her bag. I turned to open it and May flew out right after. She gasped and slowly floated to the ground in front of me. "It was stuffy in there! What happened?"

I turned my neck to the side to pop it back into place. "I killed it. Now come on and eat the nut before something else tries to eat us." I picked the nut out of the satchel and placed it in front of her. It was about half the size of her and she turned to take a bite. "I hope this works." I paused. "Wait a second, you HOPE this works?" May swallowed the mouthful she took, and in the next second a poof of magic came from her in the form of pink smoke.

I coughed and waved the smoke away, and once it cleared I stopped to see May at her regular size again. She hadn't eaten the nut far enough away because she appeared sitting on my lap. My eyes widened and redness crept onto my face from seeing her so close and with the lack thereof clothing. Her face caught fire from blush once she realized she was naked again and quickly wrapped her wings around herself as she got off of me. "Ah! Um! I'm going to go find some large flowers now!" She zipped away in an instant and I stood up a moment after.

I looked away with the feeling of embarrassment again. 'Stuff like that happens too often. What I'm confused about is why I've seemed to have stopped hitting her away when it does.' I stopped my thoughts to pinch the air beside me. Suddenly, Theodius became visible and I pulled his ear harder. "Ow!" I glared at him as he struggled in my grip. "Where do you think you're going?"

Theodius cringed as he answered me. "Ow! Ow! How the heck did you know I was here?!" I held my glare as I gripped his ear tighter. "I could smell your mischief from a mile away. So tell me, what were you planning on doing after following her?" Theodius shrugged and crossed his arms. "What do you care if I ruffle her feathers a bit?" My upper lip raised in disgust and I pushed him away as I let go of him. "If you bother her she'll bother me. I don't want to deal with any psychological trauma you'll cause."

Theodius laughed as he turned to me. "Trauma? Ha, she'll be begging for it once I get her under me." I then took the pot I used to hit the creature in the ravine out of May's satchel and pointed it at him. "Right now, you're begging for this." In the next moment May came out from the greenery she had run through before. "I'm back! There was a patch of flowers just behind these trees. What do you think?"

Theodius and I turned to see May standing now with a dress made from a light purple lily that faded to white at the tip of each petal that swayed below her knees as she did. This time her top connected to the dress as a smaller lily that bloomed upward. She also wore two thinner ones on her arms to make long sleeves that pointed down like her skirt as well.

I didn't know what to think but Theodius sure did. "Homina homina! The horny train has come to the station! Choo choo!" I then hit him in the head with the pot and he stumbled to the ground. "AH!" I put the pot back in the satchel and walked over to May so I could return it to her. She took it from me happily and I turned to Theodius. "So, I broke the spell. What's the next trial?"

Theodius stood up while rubbing his head with his palm. "I'd like for you two to retrieve me the magical harp found in the giant village of the East mountains." I crossed my arms with an unamused look on my face. "Another magical item? I've realized that we've been getting you a bunch of these things and I don't even know what most of them can do." Theodius rested his hands on his hips as he walked by me. "Well, that's not exactly your concern now, is it?"

I shrugged and May lit up as she took out the map and read it. "I know this village we have to go to! I brought some supplies and medicines over there once! I'm sure we can get some helpful information from the giants I met there." I nodded as I turned to walk toward Saniel. "Great. Let's go." Theodius crossed his arms as he watched us leave. "Wow, you're leaving just like that? Not even a thank you or a goodbye? You make me feel so used, Dedrin."

I had little expression on my face as I mounted Saniel, and May flew onto him behind me. "Get in line. Saniel, take us anywhere but here." Theodius gasped and Saniel did as I said. We rose into the air quickly, leaving Theodius standing there. He then sighed to himself and dropped his arms. "Making friends is hard."

After a while of flying towards the East mountains, the sun started to burn the sky orange from the sunset. We decided to land for the night and May made us dinner before we went to sleep. I could see the mountains we needed to go to over the horizon as the sky became dark, and I watched the stars as I rested by the fireplace.

The next morning I woke up to the brightness of the sky. It was a clear sunny day with no clouds and a faint breeze through the trees. I stood up and found May awake before me like usual. She was playing with Saniel and giving him scratches as I walked over to them. I didn't need to say anything for her to notice me. "Good morning, Dedrin! I left breakfast for you by the fire pit."

I turned and saw a bowl of cereal sitting on a rock behind me and went to sit down and eat. I was silent most of the morning until we left again and flew toward the giant village. I was curious as to what a giant looked like up close and if we would be in any danger there. May seemed to be excited about going there but then again she'd be excited to go anywhere.
