Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Heal

I sighed and May changed the subject. "Yay! I can't believe we did it! Aren't you glad we passed?!" I walked over to a large rock and started to unlatch my chestplate. "I'm pissed at how easy that could've been if we'd known that he didn't want the bow and arrow in the first place." Before May could lecture me on the importance of communication I removed my chestplate, setting a river of blood that had pooled inside to the ground.

May gasped and I set my chestplate on the ground as I sheathed my sword. I then sat down on the rock as May came to my aid. "You're hurt badly! I have some bandages in my satchel-!" Suddenly, a poof came from beside us and Theodius appeared. "Congratulations again! You passed the third test! Your method of making friends with Kaltar was questionable, but I guess it doesn't matter as long as you survived with the bow. Now your next test is-"

May hurriedly pulled some bandages from her bag as she interrupted him. "I'm sorry Theodius, but we're going to have to wait at least a couple weeks to head to the next trial. Dedrin is hurt and needs time to heal." I shook my head. "I'm fine," I said that even though my vision had clouded over and I was wobbly from so much blood loss.

May gave me a stern look, and as of right now, I saw two of her from how dizzy I was. 'Nightmare fuel.' I thought. "No, you are not. I am going nowhere until you're all better," May said as she crossed her arms. Theodius looked over to me and shouted. "What?! That long?! Come on! You two are the most entertainment I've had in years! I am not waiting on recovery account!"

He then raised his hand, causing a beam of blue magic to shoot out of his palm and surround me. In an instant, I felt amazing, and all of the blood that was falling down my chest disappeared along with my wound. I also felt the bones in my back move back into place. I didn't even know that they were broken from all the adrenaline that rushed through me while I fought. 'They must've broken when Kaltar punched me through the walls. From now on I'm not going to let another opponent hit me again. I need to constantly fight at my best if I'm ever going to attain the stone of Sudre.'

The light disappeared after a moment, and I felt the place on my chest where the arrow had pierced me with my fingers. The skin was perfectly clear and healed, and I no longer felt dizzy. I looked over to Theodius with surprise, and he placed his hands on his hips. "Before you say anything, this wasn't cheating. You already passed the trial, you would've been fine anyway. I'm just speeding up the process."

May examined me and her look of worry became relieved. "Wow! He's all better! Thank you so much, Theodius!" Theodius turned his head in her direction and raised an eyebrow. "Now, as for you." He then teleported in front of her and held onto her tight as he kissed her deeply. "Mmm!" I gagged at the sight. "Ugh! I thought I told you to stop doing that in front of me!"

Theodius ignored me and let go of her lips. "That was for getting my hopes up back there." He then put his face in her breasts and May stood there shaking. "And what was that for?!" He pulled away enough to turn his head toward me as he held his arms around her waist. "Because Dedrin got a mouthful of them earlier and I got jealous." I remembered when I fell on her and crossed my arms. "I didn't do that on purpose." Theodius scoffed. "You might not have, but there's no denying how much you loved it."

I glared at him and quickly swiped my foot under his legs. "Ah!" He fell to the ground and I stood up to grab my chestplate. "Hands off, pervert." He returned to his feet quickly and dusted himself off as he whined. "Hey! Is that any way to treat the guy who's giving you the stone of Sudre?" I rolled my eyes and reattached my chestplate. "Whatever. Just tell us what the next trial is." Theodius crossed his arms. "Fine, you barbarian. The next test is simple. All you have to do is to get a mermaid to give you their pearl. I have it marked on your map where you are sure to find mermaids, along with tideweed; a plant that provides underwater breathing abilities."

I was surprised to hear that it was possible for something other than a sea creature to be able to breathe underwater, while May had a worrisome reaction. "But, if fairies go into water we won't be able to fly for days!" Theodius turned to her and shrugged with a smirk. "Then I guess you're lucky that you're not the one on the quest. You can just wait for Dedrin on the surface with me." May's worry only increased after he said that. "On second thought I'll take my chances. I did promise to help so..."

I had already mounted Saniel while they were talking and was tired of their banter. "May! Come on!" May then quickly gave Theodius the bow and arrow, and waved to him as she flew up to sit behind me. "Bye Theodius!" Without another word, Saniel spread his wings and shot into the air again. Theodius was soon out of sight, and luckily Saniel was flying more smoothly than last time.

As we flew over the green trees in the light of late afternoon, I held my hand out to May behind me. "Hand me the-'' I stopped myself from speaking to the feeling of May holding my hand. I then turned to her and smacked it away. "What are you doing?! Hand me the map, you idiot!" May's face became realization and she pulled the map from her satchel. "Oh! Sorry, here you go." I took it from her and shook my head in irritation as I turned forward again.

I saw a picture of a lake on the paper and studied the directions as May pulled something else from her bag. "This is gonna be great! We're probably going to be here for a while so good thing I came prepared!" I looked behind me as she held up a small book that said '1000 Questions for Besties' on the cover. May then opened the book and started to look through the pages. "This will be so much fun! We'll get to know each other so much better with this road trip game!"

I sighed. "Is it just me, or are you getting more annoying?" May ignored my question and lit up as she turned to a page. "Oh, this is a good one! If you could marry anyone in the world, who would you pick? You can't say yourself!" I turned around again, accepting my fate. "My sword." May raised an eyebrow at my unusual answer. "Your sword? Why your sword?" My gaze stayed on the horizon as I responded. "It's quiet, always by my side, and spills blood effortlessly." May hesitated. "Well, I can't say I didn't expect you to like those traits in a partner..."
