Chapter 47 - Prejudices

"Why do you sound like you care about Carter?" I asked to drift the topic a little away from the main topic.

Jaxon knows a lot of things about me. And above all, he knows that I don't give second chances to those who have betrayed me. I forgive and move on but I burn whatever ties that connect me to those people. I am that kind of person and I know Jaxon is completely aware of that. That's why he is doubting my alibi. I honestly don't want to lie to him because he is a close friend and like a family to me, but being involved with my life with Carter will only complicate his life. I don't want that for him.

"The hell I care about with him. What I care about is you. Tell me honestly, Eve. Where are you exactly?" Jaxon asked in a firm, cold voice.

"Like what Mom had told you, I am in Seattle. Come on, Jax. Can we just talk again once I'm back? I'm still really sleepy."

"Are you with him?" He won't really let it go.
