Chapter 6 - Fine Powder

Harold's eyes almost popped out of their sockets. "Dad, why are you making bets with this idiot?"

"Yes, Dad, why?" Rina added. "Why are you wasting your time? There's no room for waiting!"

Sam's eyes flashed grimly. "I don't need your opinions, both of you. I gave him a week's time and I intend to keep my word. I hope that the other party does the same."

He looked at Jordan then, who just smiled and said, "It doesn't actually have to take that long. I can do it in three days."

Harold let out a laugh. "Three days? What are you, God?"

He never believed that this idiot would be able to pull off a big solution in three days.

Sienna just watched them in silence, thinking about how Jordan protected her for a change.

She appreciated it, but she had to admit that even she was worried about Jordan and the deadline.

Still, she was flattered. She could feel her heart getting warmed up with the idea of him doing this for her.

Sam, who kept staring at Jordan all this time, suddenly smirked. "How come you're so normal today? I'm telling you now, it's better if you let go of your weird dreams."

As he said that, everyone around them realized that Sam had just set up a trap for Jordan.

Suddenly, the plan didn't seem so strange anymore.

Someone in the crowd laughed. "Maybe he's going to wriggle out of the situation by playing dumb."

However, Jordan was unabashed. He just smiled at Sam. "I still have to thank you for the chance, no matter how things turn out."

The corners of Sam's lips twitched. He didn't like that Jordan was still all cheerful even though he was clearly at a disadvantage.

At this moment, he was still his son-in-law.

Sam's smirk disappeared, and everyone felt awkward on his behalf.

Right at that moment, someone announced, "Kenneth Andrich is about to enter the hall!"

Everyone's hearts started to pound fast. They all turned around and glared at Jordan, thinking that this would be the end of him.

Ken entered the room. The first thing he saw was the torn pieces of papers on the floor, which he knew were the divorce agreement.

"It seems that things are not going according to plan," Ken said, smiling but not making himself look any less threatening.

"I apologize," Sam said immediately. "It was something we didn't expect."

"What about the promise you gave me before?" Ken asked. "Does it still count?"

His family had always exceeded the Campbells in any way, so he knew he didn't need to be careful around Sam.

Many guests trembled. Sam himself had mixed expressions.

This was when he realized that Jordan was right about one thing. It didn't feel good to be left at the mercy of someone else.

He had already made a bet with Jordan, but that didn't make him any less scared of the Andrich family.

Sam smiled awkwardly. Thankfully, Sienna decided to interfere. "May I talk to you in private, Mr. Andrich?"

"Miss Sienna." Ken smiled. "We meet again. As lovely as always."

He held out his hand to touch hers but she didn't move. "This is a family meeting, Mr. Andrich. You shouldn't be here."

"Is it wrong for me to join in on the celebration of your divorce?" Ken asked coolly. "I even got you a gift. I mean, we would all be family soon. Might as well start interacting now."

Sienna couldn't believe just how arrogant this man was. He didn't even seem to mind.

He just took out a small box from his pocket and opened it in front of Sienna.

It was a diamond ring, and the center stone was the biggest diamond she had ever seen.

All the women in the room perked up with envy in their eyes.

But Sienna remained unmoved. "I'm afraid I can't take that gift. It's too expensive."

"It's just a diamond ring," Ken insisted with a small smile. "If you don't like it, you can still take it and perhaps give it to someone else." He looked more arrogant. "Besides, I can get you a better, bigger one."

"Take it," some people from the crowd cheered.

"It's not a proposal ring. Just take it."

"Don't let him down, he has good intentions..."

Sienna tried to ignore all of them, but she found it hard.

She didn't want to accept it, but at the same time, she knew that there may be consequences to refusing.

But suddenly, before she could make the choice, a big hand reached over and grabbed the small box from Ken.

"Well, since everyone insists it's nothing, I will accept it on Sienna's behalf," Jordan declared.

Ken was shocked. "What are you doing here, West?"

"I heard that someone is trying to steal my wife, so I figured I should see them try," he said lightly. "I don't know who would attempt such a thing, but they would be pretty sorry."

Ken froze, piecing the things together.

The rich heir he had met in the lobby was the Campbell son-in-law.

But everyone was shocked that Ken seemed friendly to him.

"Jordan!" some people were yelling. "Give that back to him!"

"What are you doing, you bastard?"

"Don't you dare act like you can twist anyone just because dad gave you a week!" Kris called out.

"No one can protect you if you anger Ken," Rina added.

Jordan ignored them all. "Can I tell you something, man to man, friend to friend?"

"How dare he talk like that to the Andrich heir!" people were whispering.

However, Ken couldn't really care less about that. He was too busy staring at Jordan, trying to connect the stupid husband to the man he had just met earlier.

When the realization hit him, he got so angry that his face contorted into a snarl. He actually had fallen for this idiot's tricks.

He didn't dare show much negative emotion, though. If he actually admitted to getting tricked, everyone would think he was the fool.

"So you're the retarded son-in-law I have heard of many times," Ken said. "It seems that you really live up to that title. I'm afraid I can't take you seriously."

When the Campbell clan heard it, they all wanted to crawl into a hole and never come out.

But Jordan's heart sank a little. He had already warned them that he had met Ken beforehand and no one believed him.

Surely now they knew.

Jordan looked at them innocently. "You just told me you wished to attend this dinner with me earlier in the lobby. It seemed like you wanted to be friends. What changed? Everyone just heard you calling me by my last name, and everyone knows that we have not met before tonight."

"Nonsense!" Harold called out. "Stop it, Jordan!"

"You're embarrassing everyone here!" someone yelled at him.

But Jordan just shrugged. "If all of you want to play dumb, I will let you."

He looked nonchalant, but his gaze turned cold when he looked at Ken again.

Still holding the box, he gathered all his strength and redirected it to the hand that held it.

Then, in front of everyone, he crushed the whole thing with his bare hand.

And just like that, the diamond ring turned to powder.
