"My question is about the Blood Meter, what is it?" There were too many questions and excitement that I needed to get off my system.
[A Nosferatu is an unaging supernatural being, host... in your case, it is more so since you have the Curse of Blood, you're way stronger than common Nosferatus, your physical body is composed out of it, to become stronger you consume it and when it is torn out of you, you lose it... your blood meter indicates how much blood you have available.]
That's ridiculous, so that's why I regenerate... I mean, yes, everyone's body is made out of blood, basically water... it condenses into muscles and so on, the biology and yadda but what he's saying is that my body is like liquified blood that shapes into a body. Hence why I can't die... so long as I have blood, I can still live.
My 'blood' was boiling when I heard that, it was such a badass power.
"Is there a way to increase my blood meter from a hundred? why is it overloaded?"
[It is currently overloaded because the host consumed blood way stronger than the host's current limit, right now the host is a Nightwalker II, a relatively weaker Nosferatu whilst the consumed blood has stronger components such as [Darkness], [Divinity] and [Poisonous Abyss]... as for increasing it, the host has to level up and become stronger for the blood meter capacity to enhance.]
"Is there any limit to how strong I can become, like a maximum level?" There were more questions, like what those elements were, but I guessed I had to ask master that instead.
[There is no such a thing, host... but the stronger you are the more difficult it is to grow stronger.]
'Logical' I thought, so I can really become as strong as sister Lisha so long as I work hard... right now she was like my top bar, the place I wanted to reach. She had 'killed' me twice without me even noticing.
"Do you have any other functionality?"
[You can check the 'shop', 'storage' and 'quests' functionalities. Where shop is Blood Curse and Nosferatu abilities which the host is strong enough to manifest with Mutation Points. The shop is an independent space that is available in the host's soul. Quests are created as system assistance to guide the host in his path to become stronger.]
Everything was so resourceful and well thought out that I was awed, it was technically like a 3D augmented reality game, but I knew it was merely for my convenience.
"Is there a way to deactivate the features?" This was my question, this system was like an assistive interface, I could choose to do everything instinctively or so I thought.
[There is a way to do so, but it is not recommended by the system since hosts' instinct levels are quite low, which means that the host will find it immensely difficult to evolve as a Nosferatu with the Blood Curse on your own accord.]
"I see... thank you, leave them activated. That was my next question, what is instinct?" Although it sounded a little cheap I imagined as time went by I would grow independent from the system, right now I needed to become stronger and it would be helpful regardless.
[Instinct is the host's capability to comprehend supernatural concepts and apply them, for example... if the ability of Blood Hibernation hadn't been in the shop, it would have been highly unlikely for the host to come up with that ability on your own.]
"Oh? then where do the shop abilities come from that means I can learn them on my own instead of using Mutation Points if I manage to comprehend them or something like that?" This was quite the point of interest.
[That is correct, abilities in the shop are records of skills created and left behind by previous hosts.]
!!!
I gasped, it was such an amazing thing. "So you're saying that I can create my own abilities!?"
[Correct... those abilities will then be available in the shop for future hosts of the Blood Curse.]
My soul was literally jumping in excitement at the prospect of my own growth.
"Can you show me an ability that I can use right now? something that would be useful to me." Since I already knew the rules of the game, it was time to see what the shop had to offer.
[Sure... searching... ability found according to host's experience.]
[Apprasail II (Evolution): By using your inherited darkness, analyse the characteristics of the object, target or prey within your sight.
Level Required: LVL5.
Rank Required: Nightwalker II.
Mutation Points Required: 7000.]
[Vampiric Charm II (Growth): Make submit the soul of beings inferior to you, allowing them to do your bidding and fitting your desires. The stronger the host is, the stronger individuals can be charmed.
Level Required: LVL6.
Rank Required: Night Walker II.
Mutation Points Required: 8000.]
...
I was amazed, how many techniques were there?! let alone those two were so useful.
"Can you show me an ability that would allow me to transform into an animal?" I asked, taking a good gulp.
[Polymorphism VI: Switch the consistency and form of your blood to fit your desires. Object or Animal. It is merely required to devour the object or animal.
Level Required: LVL42.
Rank Required: Vane of Light VI.
Mutation Points Required: 920.000]
"That's so damn expensive... but I want it!" I couldn't help my excitement, so many possibilities... now I understood why this system was needed, I couldn't even conceive of transforming into an object or an animal on my own; if this skill was not available here... I would have never come out with it.
I knew I had to calm down, right now I was merely a broke fool... 8 thousand-ish mutation points and a low rank, transforming myself into a gigantic dragon was nothing more than a barely touchable dream as of now.
'I have enough to buy appraisal... the charm is tentative but I don't think I need it now... appraisal is a great skill in games, allows you to see resources and their value that you would have otherwise missed.'
I gave it some deep consideration.
"Could you show me the list of skills that I can currently buy with my budget?" My first skill would be very important, I had already seen a premise in my status that told me so, I was going to ask later.
[Appraisal II (Evolution)]
[Vampiric Charm II (Growth)]
[Darkness II (Evolution)]
[Poisonous Fang II (Growth)]
[Furtive Predator II]
...
"Show me the details of [Furtive Predator II] and [Poisonous Fang I] moreover... what does the clause evolution mean?" I could guess more or less what it was.
[It means that you have to acquire the skill now in order to unlock its enhanced version as you grow stronger... as for growth, it means that the stronger you become, the greater the effect of the skill.]
"In the case of appraisal, for example... there is a stronger version that would allow me to see more details in the stuff I analyse, I imagine?"
[Correct, in the case of a high-ranked appraisal, for example, it can go as far as to tell you an object or person's future.]
!!!
You have to be kidding me. I didn't even want to ask how much strength you need to be able to do that.
[I shall show you the details now, host.]
[Furtive Predator II: Conceal yourself beneath the visibility, alter your body to produce less noise and camouflage
Level Required: LVL6.
Rank Required: Nightwalker II.
Mutation Points Required: 5000]
[Poisonous Fang II (Growth): By biting your prey, inflict on them a powerful toxic poison, the stronger you are, the stronger the poison.
Level Required: LVL6.
Rank Required: Nightwalker II.
Mutation Points Required: 7000]
...
"Damn they're all so good!" I could already imagine myself in a plethora of use cases with those techniques.
